I've had several graduates working for me over the years and I'm sad to say that without exception, they all needed very close supervision, some for a considerable amount of time.
The ones that had an over inflated opinion of themselves so had a reluctance to heed advice/ guidance were the hardest work. Most were just lacking common sense and didn't have any concept of logical thinking. Almost all couldn't even begin to fault find a relatively simple problem, and surprisingly some needed a calculator to perform even a simple calculation.
Seeing them doing anything practical was very entertaining though so not all bad.
Not really what industry needs so yes I agree a mind set change is needed but highly unlikely it will happen as things are at present.

Apprenticeships are still there but not in the numbers they were sadly. We have always took apprentices on at the last few places I have worked
The sad thing, the kids need to be training up in different skills moving forward, manufacturing is becoming a thing of the past in this country, and while we are talking fishing, just like all these rip off merchants pedalling Chinese junk, that's why the jobs are going, can't compete when they can employ 8 Chinese to one Brit
And also consider the mongs in this country who have desire to work, we are ****ed

It's absolutely sick they think because they've appologised to the abused the abused can just put it all behind them "wipe your mouth and move on attitude".
The insult reasoning from West Mercia constabulary was they were advised not to pursue it as it may of caused racial tensions, WTF race aside it's the sickest act there is then they get paltry sentencing and out in half the time anyway, whatever race, colour, creed, religion the abuser is they should never see the light of day again, of what use in this world is a person like this that they absolutely destroy a child's hopes dreams and aspirations for their own sexual gratification and those who let this happen are as bad in my book, heads should roll literally.
