But MB did not try to peddle a "Death Rig" to the angling community for his own financial gain, with a total disregard for the consequences.
To produce results for the cameras must be one hell of weight on ones shoulders, I suspect it would be the ones paying them the wage for doing the articles/films that pressure them to do such "dodgy" practices.

Martin Bowler is seeking personal financial gain by appearing in these videos for his corporate sponsors. Whatever the level of pressure someone may be under, and however we try to dress it up, it is entirely unacceptable and inexcusable - money or no money.

Bowler, a literally and videography genius. An uncanny and natural quill trotting angling genius that is up there with Christopher and Richard Walker.
But if he came on my stretch - rehooking Barbel after an hour in my net - I'd shout Oi Bowler No - I admire your books and films and tales of wild gudgeon - but playing up for the cameras is bang out of order and I'd give him a slap.

I always thought MB was a good guy and liked his style and looked forward to his videos etc but that has gone out of the window now ...so just goes to prove we never know how honest people are in real life
as for his uncle JW always loved watching his TV shows until i had the misfortune to meet him whilst fishing the Ebro ...he was the comsumate proffessional in front of the camera all though slightly sulky if he didn't get his own way or something interupted him .. but in the evenings after a few red wines he was a proper diva and not a nice person and we did try not to eat in the same restaurant as him in the end and that included his guide and production team which says it all
