I just dont get it, why would anyone need to keep food warm on the bank, like wise we have a cool box that doesnt require battery power to keep beer cold....and tou can garauntee it will break as its cheap chinese tat with a super mark up

My mate with connections to fish markets uses the thick polystyrene boxes they use.
Ok they are white which will upset the camo brigade but with care they are reasonably robust and best of all they are free.
We took one to France in the heat and it lasted many days. I can't say for certain how long as the contents got used before it lost it's effectiveness

I agree, the big polystyrene bxes if you can get them are excellent.
I used to use them, I used get them when they had deliveries of medicinal products for vacinations etc when they delivered to the Medical centre where I worked.
They are a bit fragile though and easily chip, but wrapped in tape and a wooden box built around them, they would last

I agree and looking at the measurements these won’t even fit between my dishwasher and tumble dryer in my xxxl bivvy extension and seems a pain in the arse to reconfigure the en suite just for the sake of more stuff to lug around

Just line any old plastic box with 50mm (or thicker) Kingspan and you'll be in Icey Tek territory and beyond. Use a mix of large and small freezer blocks of your choice (gel/water/ other) (surface area ratio). Best sealing the inner though some way.
Aquarium boxes are great but poly alone as said is fragile. I bought, and still have, some large fish market type poly boxes for French trips. After 3 days of French summer the contents were still frozen using 2ltr pop bottles as ice blocks. I decided in my infinite wisdom to wrap them in duct tape for strength...wasn't the best idea I've had!

Electric cool boxes are a game changer for me, super cold beer on an evening!
Just retired my Yeti 35 litre to the garage which was good for 2-3 days pending external temperatures. If you are somewhere with a decent freezer and can do ice block changes, no bother.
Flip side is you need some power to run the electric ones. i looked at these for quite a few months before splashing out following some advice off a mate. I got a Mobicool for my van which has basically a Dometic compressor minus the badge tax.
Most are using around 40 - 50W so if you have a 1000w pack that's 20 hours if its on all the time, the insulation is the key so they just kick in now and again. I have also put some foam liner around mine
For carp anglers doing a week in the sun you would need a decent power pack and solar panel back up to keep it running

the size of this isnt big enough for a weekends worth of food and beer though is it, let alone a week

I use my icey-tek 35l for 2 - 3 day sessions and it works a treat. The downside is you lose space on ice etc so only so much it can take (well enough for 3 days).
Last year we went France and I bought an Totalcool Extreme 50l as on public open waters there are no quick access to shops etc and it was a game changer. It has 2 x compartments which one can be used as a fridge and one a freezer (not used it as freezer as I can only imagine it will tank the battery pack). I had both compartments set at 2 degrees and worked flawlessly. My Anker 555 powerhouse lasted over 3 days on a charge and afterwards had it topped up with a solar panel. IMO well worth the money for longer trips.
The ridgemonkey however is pointless. Its so small you can barely get enough in for 24hrs you might as well just use an icey tek which will last forever
