Hi , with winter not too far away i"m looking for recommends on thermals, i'm told merino wool is the best but im looking for recommendations ie brands etc , i do feel the cold so im looking for the warmest , appreciate any advice

Smartwool get some good reviews but are not cheap,I had thermals from m&s a few years ago (merino wool) theyre superb might be worth a look

Iv got trakker base layer top and bottoms . The tops seams are bloody annoying and iv given up with it.

Layering, Snugpak Skinz, I do like a Merino wool jumper too, mine are M&S.

If your sitting down and not very active sadly very little keeps the cold out.

Layering is the best approach merino or look at some of the mountain brands like Rab or paramo, they have grid fleeces which from memory trap in the air and are supposed to help keep you warmer and very breathable. But unfortunately, I refer back to my first point.

Also keep the wind out so top everything off with a good breathable wind proof layer

Sorry rambling... Also make sure everything is as breathable as you can afford, if it isn't you'll be wet inside your shell and will end up being cold and wet.

Just to add, I personally find using a blanket over your legs to keep the wind off in the 1st place is a game changer, not very carpy but hey ho, as is the wind coming from behind your chair.

Get a snugpak jungle blanket,thin,lightweight but warm.I then put it between the layers on my sleeping bag so keeps me even more toasty

I've seen you mention those before, just had a nosey, like the look of those. I didn't want to use my bedchair cover but had thought about buying another espesh as most are waterproof but that blanket looks much better for the job

Edit, still thinking about the heated gear too, Preston started that with me, like the idea of the seat box pad for my chair or foot end of bed to keep tootsies warm....I know...jessy 🤣

Have a look at thinner gillets to go underneath jackets or jumpers as well. The old navy and amry Kevin Maddocks wooly jumpers are also really warm.

Sports pursuit always has good sales on base layers and thermals. Lots of merino wool stuff in there. Icebreaker and smartwool are two good brands but ive had some that dont last long. The 320gms ones are super warm. 👌🏼

Can you still get hold of them old Army jumpers with shoulder and elbow pads. Every self respecting Maddocks clone had to have one of them in there wardrobe. Think there due a bit of a comeback

Absolutely! They still make "woolly pully" jumpers.

I wear them for outside security work during the winter.

Incredibly warm.
