Which Coats/Jackets are you guys wearing to keep you warm and dry on the banks this winter?

I like my layers rather than a heavy coat. I normally wear a Fortis snugpak SJ3. It's the lightest thermal jacket they do rated down to -5. Not to sure if they still sell them? with a waterproof Berghaus jacket over the top.

2 options for me.
1 sitting down, very cold, Fox Sherpatech sallopettes/jacket with or without layers. If expecting rain I wear German Army Flecktarn goretex over them (Oldgeezer rec).
2 Expecting to be mobile, layers & a Deerhunter Trouser Jacket combo.

I wear the SJ9 in the depths of winter and does a good job of keeping me warm. It's a bulky coat so would struggle to layer a waterproof over the top but dry conditions/under the shelter it's perfect. Outlaw Pro are doing it for £97 with code CS15 (down from £150) at the moment.
I use the Nash ZT polar parka which I find incredibly warm and with it being longer it covers your back area which I find often gets cold. Coupled with my fox thermal salopettes i find I am very comfortable in any winter weather .

definitely look for some sort of fown filling if you are sitting around a lot. absolutely game changer for me in winters over here, super light & ridiculously warm. don't get them wet though - I have a goretex shell over my puffa for the damp days & for walking to & from the lake.

Thats why Valiance is a good fishing jacket - no need for a shell (unless its relentless / you've got no shelter etc) as its got a tough shell (Pertex Shield) and a decent DWR . .

Absolutely - I have a very similar North Face Summit Series version of it that is too good for fishing at the moment but will be switching it over to it in the not too distant future.

I have the Torrent Extreme and if I was buying again I'd go for the standard Torrent. It seems miles warmer than the SJ9 I was using before. Overkill for anything warmer than sub-zero conditions and we rarely seem to get them nowadays. I've been out in all these recent storms and I've ended up having to take it off 'cause I'm boiling my nuts off.
Don't get me wrong - brilliant jacket for when it's absolutely bl**dy freezing - but too much above zero imho. I was using the SJ9 in autumn and early spring but no chance of that with the Extreme. I think the standard Torrent would be perfect.

The reason I wear a outer shell is because I want to take it off before sitting on my bed/chair, don't want to get them wet in any way shape or form, even if they have a waterproof outer, pet hate of mine. I must admit I still prefer a smock for a outer shell though, easier to put on and take off than dedicated sallopettes & jacket, but can be a bit clingy and a pain treading on it if kneeling down.
On longer sessions everything will get wet eventually, I just like to put it off as long as poss.
