Just wanted to get people's opinion. Got some Nash Skyline in UV yellow and it looks really good with the feel and stretch. Really like the way when your fishing rods on the spot. I will prob use a clear leader anyway for a couple of rod lengths. Just wanted to see people opinions if the carp can see it and to see if you would think it would be detriment on smaller venues.
Not really look for a just use clear line answer. I am asking to see other peoples experience on it and to see if they would share their thoughts.

Not really the answer you wanted, but lots of debate years ago regards is obvious better especially when away from your actual spot (leader) if fish can avoid they seemed happier according to many, rather than a line that they can't see but feel.

I personally don't think carp can see your line , they might feel it as they swim through your area , personally I fish dead tight lines and feel that slack lines is just a fad.

in short - yes they can. they have better eyesight than us & can see more colors than humans so it may not actually appear yellow to them.
can they associate it with danger? maybe once they have encountered it a few times.
if you are worried about it I would recommend using a marker to break up the color pattern near baited end & maybe look at ways of getting it pinned to the bottom.

I watched a carp swim towards my line in the margin as I was fishing a zig, so tight to the lead.
As it approached the line it slowed and stopped before turning and going back the way it had come ! It definitely saw the line and didn't want to swim through it .
If your fishing out in the pond there's a fair chance your line or end tackle is on the deck anyway, especially if using lead core.

Yellow lines are fine, but personally I'd avoid double yellows or you risk getting a carping ticket

Its carp feeling the line id be bothered about. I use all different colour lines piking no problems

I used some yellow line a few seasons ago and it didn't seem to make any difference, I didn't catch any.....only joking I had a few. I personally don't think it matters what colour you use.

yellow light (approx 580nm) falls in the middle of a carp's visible spectrum which would suggest that it is the easiest color for them to see.

We used to use yellow line (from memory Daiwa tournament) sea fishing to attract fish to the bait, even bright yellow and orange beads right next to the hook.
Only way to know for sure is to try it and I'd say fill yer boots and experiment, fishing is meant to be fun after all and you could be onto a winner 🙂

But surely it's the diameter of the line that's of interest , does the carps eyesight have sufficient resolution to see 0.3mm.?

Not sure on that anaolgy in this case, the fish usually only get to associate those colours with danger once
..unless you catch and release of course.
If you believe in learnt behaviour in Carp then they're exposed to certain colours in danger situations multiple times and can learn to avoid/spook from them. I think this behaviour has been evident for me when floater fishing with a orange topped float, use black marker to cover the orange less spooking...hmm.

Nah, I don't believe in learnt behaviour in any fish otherwise they wouldn't keep eating little round balls the same size and colours would they?
