Thinking of changing my lead set up, has anyone used these before? Are they better than a traditional running rig set up. Should they be fished on slack lines? Any advice would be appreciated

Used them in the past with slack or tight lines but now use a run ring with the thinking anglers C clips.

Have a look at the Nash one - better solution IMO . . .no friction / lead engagement until the line tightens

I use the angled drop off run ring from Fox. You can fish these with the lead fixed into the ring with a plug or with a pva plug which dissolves and allows the lead to release if you get weeded/snagged.
You can fish them on a tight line if you like, but they might not be as effective as a fixed lead set up.
They are best used in a slack line set up IMO and I do ok.. I use these for 90% of my fishing. Only switch to fixed leads if fishing @ 90 plus or weed and snag fishing.

Think the OP is talking about the new Fox 'running' lead clip which is a lead clip that doesn't lock in the hooklink swivel - its basically in a plug (much like their floater fishing floats) to create an initial soft bolt and then pull free from the clip to create a running rig . . .ie nothing that you can't already create yourself with a standard clip and not as innovative / functional or safe as the Nash one IMO

The nash one seems to lock in place. I can't work out what happens if the fish runs 20 yards and then the clip will lock on a tight line. How do you land the fish?

Haven't seen them but I would assume you'd have a bead set up the line?

It looks like there is a silicon band that allows the lead to drop? Also not sure how freely that clip would move up the line after it's been sat in silt for 2 days..
Might work great, but too much to go wrong compared to a simple run ring for me.

The new thinking tackle I'm sure spooner gets a lead jammed in the eye from a running rig. Have seen it done with inlines on a running set up reason I won't use them.

Yeah.... got that. Just offering a view that if you want to fish slack or semi slack the fox bead is a better option. IMO the running lead clip is a solution to a problem created by tackle companies and overly complicated.
