Looking for some naked chod line saver type beads but no way am I paying £1.10 per bead. I'm not that desperate.

How about 2 inches of leadcore or leadless leader above your heli bead?
I've used a anti tangle sleeve pulled through a helicopter sleeve to give around 1 1/2 inches for the line to ride on near the lead, with a long baiting needle you can put the anti tangle sleeve on then push the helicopter sleeve over it.

where are they 1.10 each ? I use the korda ones which are great . you get 8 for about 4 quid

It's the no trace bead rubbers that are the rip off 3 for £6.25 last time I checked. you get the barrel,beads, but I don't want them. Really don't get the pricing of so bits

Those ones are for leadcore, leadless leaders. Unless they have released them since i last looked. The bore is too big for mono and slips up and down it

Neat little stop knot on the mono keeps it in place. Split bead comes off and rig goes over everything no problem.

I have never done it myself as I always use leadcore but I have recovered other peoples rigs and they have used a piece of stiff rig tubing with a bead jammed on both ends of the tubing so it looks like a barbell with the ring swivel in between the beads. Some of the ones I have seen, the user has also jammed a piece of thick line through the hole of the bead to make it a tighter fit and some the beads have been superglued on.
How good they work, I don't know.

I used to do similar in the '90's, then started flaring the ends of the rig tubing with a lighter. I seem to remember there was a helicopter lead available. Instead of a loop it had a straight wire with a tapered eye, it was supplied with a couple of rubber beads that could slide over the tapered eye. Obviously you could only have your hooklength close to the lead.
