been off the fishing scene for while due to the usual commitments ( family / home / work ) but looking into get a bend in the rod in the near future. Just wondering what happened to the high oil hookable pellets that Sonubaits used to produce ? They were spot on and gave a real edge when everyone else was fishing boilies.
They were perfect in summer as they gave off a oil slick when hitting the water, dark in colour and they were perfect on the hair. Looked at Sonubaits website and they seem to have very limited hook bait options.
Any other bait companies produce anything similar ?

Never used them but I once wrote on here about a very hard deep water I was fishing, guy at the side of me rolled up with Berkeley buzz baits, the only way I could describe them was like an oily sponge, WTF
4 hours later he had 3 very good fish out which is a seasons worth of fish for some folks
They worked, especially in the warmer weather and I think this is what pulled them down on that day

They looked awful to me but a couple of friends of mine really rated these as hook baits for Barbel.

True, high oil halibut pettets were massive in the 90's, being cheap people were piling them in until venues started banning them. Same thing happened with tiger nuts but its OK to feed them rubbish long as we can stick a hook in them.

I remember the slicks from pellets and high oil levels at the time, you could walk around lakes and see it washed up on the silt and in the edge on a few waters I used to frequent, not good at all
I also remember conversations and debates as to whether oil slicks were preventing the oxygenation of the water

Don't stick a hook in them if you care about them that much.
You can't say it's fine to put a hook in them and then say don't feed them bait that's bad for them in your opinion 😂😂😂

Remember same, also some lake owners were claiming the fish were loosing weight due to the poor nutritional value of them and people were piling in so much it was all they were eating. I'm sure many said the same about tigers and peanuts before implementing bans.

It's not my opinion it's fact, do your research, all high oil fish pellet are designed carnivorous fish so when fed to omnivores they have a detrimental effect on the health of the fish. Thankfully most carp anglers don't think its OK to feed them rubbish because they are going to stick a hook in them anyway.

Soon have no fish left with that attitude. Give ya head a wobble. If you don't approve then don't fish recreationally
