As per the title I'm thinking about designing a bite alarm and would be grateful for thoughts on functions capabilities and form. What would be your number one wish? What is biggest irritation? List of features? Thanks in advance.

Compact heads ,similar in size to mmxr,
Reciever,with upgraded vibration technology ,for silent alert and or for hearing impaired anglers,...and if at all possible,a wrist reciever ,again with vibration technology..

I still think a fox RX is the bench mark myself. But if I was designing one:
Make them bullet proof, ultimate reliability, because that is what will sell them longer term for me
I like the look of the Gardner ones and would have long type snag ears built into the alarm as the standard
Volume, tone and sensitivity with QUALITY controls either touch switch or knobs that have a pronounced “click”
Use quality materials throughout that are solid, thats why I think the Fox ones are solid, some are just utter cheap crap
No wires, battery contacts and cover that clicks perfectly every time
Night light option or one betalight slot
Good battery life
Receiver option
Stainless thread with two stainless nuts on so the alarms can be locked in place on the buzz bars without the need for crappy O rings

The ACE were pretty close to the perfect alarm but for me my list would be.Mute function,drop back differential,twin led on the heads able to change colour of led and a function to see last alarm to have a bleep on the receiver(call back mode).Easy to use and good size alarms and receiver

I think the vibration tech is patented by delkim, could be a slippery slope going down that road.
I believe most other alarms use a roller wheel and then different tech to attempt stopping false readings like wind etc. interfering.
IMO if you could find something more effective than a roller wheel or perhaps more reliable then your over halfway there. Lets be real the majority of modern alarms all have volume, tone & sensitivity adjustments so I would expect these all to be included with a strong & waterproof housing.

Don't really understand how they could patttent piezo vibration sensing as they didn't invent it, maybe just for use in a bite alarm?

Just had a look on the website and they use a roller wheel. Not too sure what the Vibration Detection System is though as it just says VDS. High Sensitivity Roller Wheel Detection – RWD.
I was meaning the initial way the alarm registers a bite.
