I bought a okuma spod reel came with 30lt braid which I am happy with I took advise to take braid off as using a deeper and replace with at least 50llb so I put on 60llb which I've filled the spool on using it yesterday and didn't cast far and I can see the black of spool so with a big cast might run out of braid thinking maybe put 30lt back on a use 60llb as a leader but not happy using leaders really any ideas please
Tbh I don't like braid I rather use mono does any think a high bs mono would be safe

I've used the Okuma Custom Spod reel extensively over the last few months and still use the original braid it came with. I use a 30lb leader, though, which honestly it's difficult to nail once you've tried it a couple of times.
Why would you replace the braid? 60lb braid is serious overkill unless you're casting out a brick...

Firstly..how many metres do you estimate you put on the reel..?
Secondly..there is braid and then there is braid...some of the cheaper stuff, especially in higher b.s should be described as rope !
I've had stuff in the past that would be better sold in a garden centre.
I'd be tempted to put the original back on then tie on some weight corresponding to that of the deeper then go out and give it whompo and see how confident you are with the braid..
Save the 60lb for tying up the runner beans.
You could compromise and use the 60lb as a leader if you are confident in your knots.
Them reels are a bit of a beast....8 thousand size....
I have one , X Spot...bought used just to appraise quality of Okuma...I use it drag in weed with a beachcaster.

Most braid are seriously over rated by the manufacturer and some snap easily if given a sudden shock load.

50llb was recommended on here and deeper recommend it I am so worried about losing the deeper I will also be using a spomb on it to
yes it is the cheap braid it's very thick do you think the 30 is enough anyone use 30 with a deeper

Sorry, I missed the part about the deeper. I don't think a Deeper is heavier than a full spomb so I'd be more than happy casting it out with 30lb braid and a leader of sorts.

Just to give you a idea I use TF gear banana braid in 30lb straight through to cast my TF Gear air bomb spomb out and that puts a lot of shock through the braid for getting it to open and I've never had the braid snap at all used banana braid for years without any problem. But if you want to feel that little bit safer tie a slightly thicker leader to the braid but I've never felt the need for one

Banana 30lb breaks at 26lb which isn't to bad considering the 50lb breaks at just over 30.

They say a deeper is around 3.5 oz I was just taking advise don't want to lose it but in saying that I read that you need 50llb braid then in another deeper are saying it was designed to be used on a standard carp rod

Standard carp rod maybe 3lb test, that will take it, put a leader on , nothing to loose, only a deeper,

If you are using it purely for the deeper I would be tempted to sack the braid off and use a good .35 mono. You will never worry about cracking off and forgiving on both rod and pocket if you fluff the cast. Only issue is twist, but for the price you can afford to pull a bit off every now and then.
If you want to stick with the braid put a 4oz distance lead on and hit it as hard as you can. If you don't spool the reel with that (make sure you've tied a half decent knot to the spool!) you never will casting an electric cricket ball!

8-10lb daiwa sensor - ESP tapered leader - job done
Leader takes all the casting strain, the thinner mono flies off the reel - 8lb is more than enough to reel a deeper in

That's the set up I used to use. Got caught up in the hype over braid and switched over. Other than the extra expense. It's just the same. 40lb mono leader is not going to stretch enough to make a difference when casting a 3 5oz lead.

I use Gardner's kinetic braid in 35lbs with my deeper haven't had an issue in two years and cast it 100 yards well out of its Wi-fi range
