Been visiting my local commie during the winter months hoping for an odd run or two.
Always put a rod out with a bottom bait or a ronnie, and the other I have been trying popped up bread which many match anglers swear by during winter months.
Been watching the water closely for fish topping, bubbles. reeds moving etc but most of the times I have recently been it has been flat calm and no sign of anything.
I have now blanked on the last three occasions without even a line bite so obviously aren't on the fish.
Would a deeper pro help me to locate some fish in these circumstances so at least I'm in with a chance of finding a peg that may get me a bite?

Personally i only rely on a deeper for depth / features. Not fish finding.
Travel light, use light leads and cast to different spots every 20 mins or so. Liners are a good sign.
Then move swims if no joy after a hr.
Keep a eye on what others are doing if they are catching.
Dont forget naturals in the winter (maggots) or zigs if it is sunny.

Likewise, I only use my "Deeper" for feature finding and depths etc. From experience, there is nothing more demoralising to take note that the "Deeper" has picked no fish up in your swim so I turn a blind eye to it and presume its wrong and my swim is cram packed with fish.
When I first bought it, I tried it out in my garden pond to ensure it was working and bonded to my tablet. I was amused when I noticed all my fish had moved into one corner off the pond and would not venture near the "Deeper". Whether they did not like the "Deeper" itself, or the clicking it made or the sonar pulse, I don't know!!!!

No, you won't find fish with it. You will know the depth of the water and have a rough idea about weed. The rest is up to you.

NO ! as a fish finder it cant be relied on at all !

Thanks you've all helped confirm my own thoughts. about 3 - 4 years ago I bought the much cheaper deeper start. Wanted to try and locate fish and at what depth as I wanted to give zig fishing a try for the first time.
I found the depth was pretty accurate and thought I'd struck gold when it showed that out in the open water it couldn't locate any fish but right under my feet it was showing loads in the margins.
This was at the deep end of the lake with about 5-6ft in the margins
I tried a float instead set at the depth it was showing all the fish at. Never had a bite in 5 hours.
Just wondered if the deeper pro was any more accurate but obviously not judging by your comments.
It appears it's a fish finder that can't find fish. I get that it's very useful for checking the depths and bottom etc. but its actually sold as a fish finder.
Its a very expensive replacement for a marker float and a lead

I brought a deeper about 2/3 years ago ago and have used it probably 6 times. Biggest waste of money I have spent on fishing tackle. Nothing beats your eyes to help you catch fish

The main market for the Deeper isn't finding a few large fish in relatively shallow water. It's for locating shoals of fish in the ocean. Someone must have twigged that uk carp anglers love to throw money about and got in touch with Korda to help distribute.
There's a whole world out there that doesn't involve wearing DPM and sh***ing in an expensive bucket.

As a feature finder it's superb last Feb in 9 hours (3 outings) I've mapped a decent size 3000 square meters on a water I'm on, I'll continue to do that and walk to banks for the next year of so. The lake has depths of 53 feet so a marker is only used as a reference point. I whack the deeper out and let it drift and collect data.
Now it did show me shoals of fish at 50 feet which was encouraging and I'll pop back soon to check these spots again.
During this time I had a chat with the bailiff whom I hope to meet again as he said he had mapped most of the lake and was happy to share his data. Anyway the chat with him was as informative as the deeper had been.
As for fish finding well I haven't managed to catch a fish of the back of it yet.

Like others on here all I use mine for is feature finding depths, bottom etc I get what your saying about the fish finder not being good but the problem you have is they are good but fish move off a spot we all no that so if you do find the fish on it by the time you cast they might not necessarily be still there that's why I don't use mine, that's what your eyes are for watercraft is the best option first try find the fish then and only then use the deeper to see what the rest is like depths and bottom, it's way better than thrashing the water about for 30mins with a marker float

Yes, it will show fish. Don't have the fish icons turned on though as it's unreliable. Learn to read the raw data and any fish are obvious. No idea why people are saying you can't find fish with it.
What you've got to remember though is that the cone only spreads a few feet across the bottom, and that's from a point starting at the deeper - so midwater (depending on depth) you may only have a couple of feet of cone width, and it's easy to see nothing there even if there are fish present.
If you do want to use it as a fishfinder, use the widest beam angle and cover as much water as you can - you'd be better doing it when not fishing and the lake is quiet, you may just find where they're holding up, and you should find some areas worthy of investigation anyway.

In that deepth of water it might be particles of some sort in the water. Or bodies of small invertebrates. I have seen some odd things in a water I fish with depths to 70ft
As has been said great for feature finding especially in deep water. But treat with caution if you think you have found fish.
