I'm fishing a large gravel pit this winter. My spots are at 80 and 100 yards. Is there a product that will allow me to send my bait out in the dark, without lights (cough) and return to my feet? It sounds fanciful and space age but I understand there are gps items that could do that.

Yes, there are autopilot systems available. No idea about any of them but I'm sure someone will post who does soon enough

I've bleated on here about the ND bait boat.2, but for the money, like out of the box autopilot, 3kg payload, you're looking at £549. You can pay an extra £200 for the same features for it to work with an iPad or Android device with the difference being you can save more than just the 4 spots that the handset saves. If you've got a deeper, you can buy ND's attachment which is pretty cheap.
If you want more speed, Fish Eye Camera does a speed kit that's £50 all in. Basically you just remove the old props and replace them with the supplied ones plus their rear pipes.

seems a great price for a Boat that comes with the ability for 16 saved GPS LOCATIONS and a colour fish finder all included for
£650 I paid nearly that just for a add on GPS for one of my 4 bait boats not that long ago

Google sptackle autopilot they do one which will work with most prop boats. Their app only works on android if you already have a boat your happy about this maybe the cheaper way to go.
One thing for sure there are a lot more bait boats made by so many companies now. It will be interesting how the newer models fair and if those companies will still be around.

No matter how good the Actor boat is, it's not a suitable for navigating longer distances on large open waters. It's too small and would struggle with any small waves.

out of interest my pal lost TWO !!!!!!! Angling Tech Microcats 1st on a large French lake waves swamped and it sunk !!
insurance paid out next year took the new boat and it happened again SUNK !!!
this time the insurance company REFUSED to pay out

Is this a case of being discreet or not found out? there is a way, turn off the baitboat lights or tape up if function is not available, then marking your lines up for distance and using any baitboat without all the bells and whistles just reflective tape triangle on the front circle on the back quick flick of the head torch every now and then so you know if its facing or going away from you it will get you in the ball park if you can see a far margin marker silhouette, knew two lads that used to fish in the nature reserve at La Horre like this they used to absolutely take it apart.
lets be honest baitboat GPS technology isn't going to drop it on a sixpence every time in the general ballpark yes granted but a lot of money for general ballpark, military grade GPS different gravy but a Naval ship or sub for inland waters is a touch OTT.

Marking spots and clipping up = no GPS required, and arguably more accurate if there's limited satellites in the area . . .

The problem is most consumer GPS uses the L1 band if you look at the deeper specs I think over 3metres it's 50% accurate.
Lots of dual band (L1 and L5) mobile phones are starting to be released now with accuracy down to a meter I'm sure within 2 years we'll see this in deeper type products. Accounting for the mobile market consuming all integrated circuits and the semiconductor shortages which continue and into next year.
