Whilst searching the vast number of bivvies available to buy, it dawned on me how poor the information provided actually is. Each manufacturer yards on about how great the fabric is, the Hydrostatic Head, extras provided or available accessories to buy etc.
Yet none of these manufacturers provide enough information regarding measurements especially of the bivvies footprint. In the camping world, tent manufacturers are much more transparent with their information as they known that customers and especially families want to see the possible layout and specifications available prior to parting with their hard earned cash. You get an overhead view of the tents layout along with location of the sleeping area and a decent set of measurements provided.
I know that our needs are extremely basic in comparison, but how difficult would it be to provide us with an accurate overhead diagram of what the shape of the footprint is from above with a couple of extra measurements so we can make a formative decision on whether for example, a 1 ir 1.5 man bivvy may be able to squeeze in a guest bedchair or a children's bedchair for that occasional guest overnighter. Or perhaps an example layout giving us measurements in detail of how much extra space will be available at the front iif we were to buy the winterskin to provide storage in-between the bivvy and the winterskin.
Bivvies with skins and all the extras can cost upwards of over grand and I just thought it would help any angler to make that Fina decision before parting with their cash. After all, it's a huge amount of cash and we want these things to last many a year on the bank.
Just my two pence worth, what's everyone else's opinion on this.

I total agree with you.
Two man bivvy's should come with pictures with 2 (big) Bedchairs inside etc.
Height of the door etc.
Also the weight that is stated is not allways correct.
Setup time for the bivvy etc.

If enough people enquired about extra info then perhaps they would add it to the original ad rather than spending their time answering emails or phone calls.
End of the day it would be in their best interest to answer frequently asked questions in the ad.

Yeah, it's a bit of a joke really. What really get's me is some don't even have the weight on. Some items are described as "lightweight" yet they don't provide the weight. Was once considering getting a cheap and light shelter for days, had to ask both Korum and Angling Direct questions about the weight. And what's the point of providing the weight of a bivvy without pegs and groundsheet, ffs???? Don't you carry these to your swim, do they fly from your car?

There is absolutely no need for that in carp fishing industry.. 99,5% people buy their bivvies by mark and the fact that the new one is out... doesnt even have to be out actually all they need is a photo and they will pre order them 1 year in advance... and when they see how bad they are there is no way they will admit it, they will even fight over it with people that bought some other mark...

But there are also a lot of people out there (going by the number of criticisms you see on the forum) that don't just buy it because it's the latest being to have. I really like the Trakker Tempest Aquatexx EV but until I've obtained all the information that I need to ensure it meets all of my situations, I won't be parting with £1200 of my cash. I don't mind spending that kind of money if it lasts aswell as meets all my requirements but on the other hand I can't afford to gamble my money away to find out it doesn't meet my needs and then have to sell it at a huge loss to me and then search for another bivvy.
If Vango, Outwell, Coleman and all the other tent companies can provide such excellent information for tents in the same, sometimes even cheaper bracket, then why can't the carp fishing manufacturers.

They cannot provide answers that they don't know? It would be far too difficult from them to get an item from the MSC shipping container and bring it to the office to sort out dimensions. Also, the "consultants" are knocking their bollox out putting pictures on the 'gram of sunsets and rods tighter than a nuns box. You lot expect too much from angling "manufacturers".

Best bet is to go into the likes of Angling Direct and put one up with the bedchair you're interested in and see how much room there is for you. It's all well and good having exact dimensions on a said biv - I'm bang with you in respect to the body of your post - just that, well, it's all good on paper, nothing beats seeing things in the flesh so to speak 👍

One manufacturer cant remember who used to show a picture of the groundsheet with all dimensions plus height, i dont understand how the idiots can only give an approximate weight???
