hi sorry if this has been asked before but is there any difference between the Fortis SJ9 coat and the Snugpak one other than the colour?
Also for users what's the SJ9 like say compared to the SJ6 or Snugpak Sasquatch?

Sasquatch is very warm.
The 9 will have you sweating like a pig. IMO the bomber style/ shorter length is not ideal.
For the thick on winter go for the Sasquatch.

Sasquatch is warmer than the 9, until the sj12 it was the warmest jacket snugpak did....
Although don't forget the ebony which is a sasquatch with a detachable hood and front baffle instead of just a zip

If you need anything more than some layers and a Sasquatch in this country I would go see a doctor 😀 if you want DPM go Fortis but if you can make do with multicam or green go Snugpak and as an added plus look for the made in UK sticker 👍🏻

If you want the Sasquatch or ebony in DPM there is just one retailer that sells them. From memory it's total fishing tackle.

The Fortis versions have longer arms for casting apparently.
I use the standard Snugpak version and have no problem casting lol.
The Sasquatch is rated same as the SJ9.

Bear in mind also the Sasquatch is sized larger because it is made to go over a Sleeka jacket. Basically its made to keep static bodies warm. (How cold does it have to be to warrant a Sasquatch and a Sleeka???)
So try before you buy on the Sasquatch.
I have a Sasquatch. Its a bit too big for me if I'm honest but it is easily the warmest jacket I have ever had. Its like wearing a good doss bag.

jeez. I wear an original sleeka. in the coldest weather maybe a thermal base layer and a t-shirt then the sleeka.
putting something on top of it would be roasting.

Are the Fortis / Snugpak jackets water resistant rather than waterproof? Assume they're ok to wear in rain without water penetrating through to any clothes underneath

No there not waterproof sadly. And that's where there a let down.

What ever you choose go and try on in the shop as they all vary size wise.

The Torrent is very nice but it isn't a Sasquatch. It is very waterproof though. There is a jacket one up from the Torrent I believe although I can't remember what it is called. That is supposed to be as waterproof as a Torrent with the warmth rating of a Sasquatch.

The warmest waterproof one is torrent extreme I think, comfort rated to minus 12 c.
I think it's better to have a removable set of waterproofs than a built in dwr for session fishing in the cold, so you can still wear the insulating layer and just take the wet layer off to dry

I agree. despite the claims made by even the best make, waterproofs aren't very breathable. so its more comfortable without
when not needed. then there is the point of DWR. it rubs off. the less you wear a waterproof the better.
stash it in a soft mesh bag and leave it until needed. I've had the same set. event trousers and Goretex top for many years.
