I cannot remember the last time I used a shelf life boilie, but was a long time ago, no doubt shelfies have improved.
Was looking at DNA's and Sticky range of shelfies.

What's the shelf life boilie you've had most success on?

If we are talking ever then I guess I'd have to say probably one of the ritchworth baits years ago. But I'm not sure that's a relevant answer for today's world as 2o odd years ago I was fishing what would be termed runs waters now.

I did ok a couple of winters ago on Manilla. I've only decided myself in the last couple of years to go back to shelf life and only use the freezer for buckets and particles.

So I can't really comment too much on modern shelfies. I've switched to DNA this year and although i obviously can't speak from experience about it, my first impressions of the nutta, slk and s7 shelf life's is very positive. They seem spot on. I hope they catch me a few going forward as I like them enough that I don't really want to change off of them even though I'm just starting out with them and their deals are very good. So far the service has been spot on as well.

Yeah, sorry, I meant current shelf life boilies.

Hi the lake I am on are discussing shelf life at the moment with the potential to ban it
They are well in with a big bait company and use their Fresh offcuts to feed the lake
They have serious concerns about the shelf life boilies breaking down on the lake bed and think it will only be really known in a couple of years after usage
I have some ccmoore live system shelf life that's now 7 years old and still smells and looks ok apart from having a white coating.
If they are like this after 7 years then what is our lake bed looking like
It's definitely more user friendly for us anglers but what is it doing to our lakes

Only started using shelf-life baits as of last season, went with Baitworks Atlantic Heat, it was very successful for me and miles away from the old shelf-life baits from yesteryear.

This season went with DNA Baits S7 & SLK, results have been very promising so far, very soft for shelf-life baits.

I haven't used either of the above companies fresh / frozen baits so I can't compare to those.

The fish have shown a very positive feeding reaction to both above baits and return for more which is what matters.

Surely they would fill a bucket with lake water and throw some baits into it and see how long they take to breakdown?

These modern shelf-life baits seem miles better than the old ones and from my understanding only contain minimum amount of preservative?

The biodiversity within the lake should have a big impact upon the bait but I suppose not all shelf-life baits are made the same?

For starters I'd chuck your 7 year old white coated bait in the bin.

The bait is obviously going to behave differently in air to water.

Go with sticky Krill range. Not cheap but really effective everywhere I've fished. Absolute confidence in it.

Hi buddy to be honest I had forgotten about it. It was in a bucket at the back of the garage. I binned it when I found it but was amazed at how good a condition it was in and when you split it with a knife it was perfect inside
