Also a story that it stood for itchy bollox, as an ingredient in the test stages had this effect if you weren't careful after you handled the bait.

My understanding is Illegal Ba**ard. It was a nickname given by a group of anglers in the NW on Redesmere (I think) for a combination of fruity strong smelling attractors that they used in baits.

IB is Mainline's version of this (presumably based on Ali's recollections), and Northern Specials are CC Moore/ Gareth Farnham 's version.

I meet him at a footie game last week
Was really good to talk to him and he was genuinely a nice fella with time for some idiot that supported the other team that was chatting about football to him and fishing
Never meet him before and he didn't know me from Adam .... Saying that all my mates had no idea who he was and thought I was chatting to some random midgit

He may be different away from fishing but i remember him from when he fished redesmere and from trevs tackle shop the term someone mentioned as irritable bast**d certainly rang true back then.

I fished Redesemere at the same time, had my rods built at Trev's too, it's an apt term

Trevs was a great shop before it moved, they built an awful lot of morphs and infinities and loads of reels that they sold at very good prices
