Hi guys,
I picked up a Frontier X II last Bank Holiday with the Deluxe wrap - I've had it up in the garden a couple of times, no real issues. I watched a load of vids/guides etc., before purchasing so I think I'm generally good, but I was wondering if anyone had any tip/tricks/hacks that might benefit me before I hit the bank? - my first time out with it will be in a couple of weeks in France... such is my working life

Only thing I can suggest is take you time for the first few goes and ensure you follow the steps in the instructions or videos. I’m seeing a lot of issues with them on various groups. Fingers crossed but I haven’t had any issues but I do wonder if the issues are user error.

99% are user errors,
99% are user errors,
something brought to market that can have such consequences by not doing it right is a complete oversight in my eyes, what if your setting up/packing down in a monsoon, muddy banks,wind rain etc...all the videos of putting g these up and down are either at a trade show or a warehouse and far from a realistic fishing environment

Some of the materials used in poles and blocks from the main two companies are utter gash and spot on -we pack up or set up in some naff conditions. I've barely done anything I would conceive wrong and broke a few trakker poles to keep their spares dept busy!

And bringing it to the market where users arealdy familiar with it's predecessor and thinking they'll look at the instructions 1st. I've said it before, yes it's user error but it should have been designed out at the designing stage, it was bound to happen!

it doesnt need a geared system, just over complicating things
I’ve got one and on my first outing I opened and closed the block a few times to get used to it. As long as you follow the set up and pack down instructions you’ll be fine. They are quite high and reaching the block might be a bit of a struggle if you are on the shorter side. I’m 6ft 1 and although I could reach the block without too much trouble the first thing I thought was it might be a struggle if you are shorter. Not sure if I like the blackout lining or not yet lol being bright sunshine and struggling to see in the Bivvy will take some getting used to
But overall I’m impressed with it and glad I upgraded from my 100T. It is quite zippy though lol there’s 3-4 zips for the groundsheet if you use the front multiple zips on the doors and vents but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.dont know why they decided I needed 30+ pegs and about 8 miles of rope though. Also got the deluxe extension and overwrap but yet to use these yet

Completely agree,I previously owned the original and I’ve nearly made an error as a result. Hence why I took my time and put it up and down several times to ensure I got it nailed in my mind lol

Bivvys always used to have a solid door but you could roll it up to reveal the mozzi mesh..
If you read my post I said "I don't want to unzip the door when the weather changes."
Most of the top bivvies still have a roll up flap to reveal the mesh.

Agreed, been caught out with inadequate frontage when weather took an unexpected turn.
Probably a mixture of profiteering and producing separate items being cheaper that they don't do it.

I was looking around again last night at vids of this bivvy.
The standard olive with camo mesh, that'd mess with my OCD
enough to buy the full camo though....hmm. is the camo that obv in use?
I take it the door side panels don't have a clear window? I like to be able to see out lying down, guessing that's not a option without orientating the bivvy to see out of the door instead?

I sold all of my mk1 frontier kit to upgrade to the mk2. Went for the camo version this time instead of Green. Too many stains was visible even after a good wash so my theory was get in camo to reduce the sight of stains.

I have the green bivvy and the green deluxe wrap. But like you I think my OCD will kick in when I come to use my camo deluxe extension 😂. I wanted a green one but managed to win a brand new camo version on ebay from Hull Angling for £134 delivered so I’ll guess I’ll suffer the mismatching 😂

Can't see it lasting - might have to invest in another, as spare? - whilst there is still stock. Or get a repair kit for what I have? Really disappointed actually. In just three trips, it's in worst condition than my Royale was when I sold it, after 11 years and 1000's of hours on the bank. I've tried repositioning my bed/day chair but that just starts creating new wear in a different place. The sheet just can't have anything underneath it seems; small stones, wood chip etc. I think there's even been wear caused by some particularly tough blades of grass 😢😂

I'm interested to know if anyone has tried the MK2 vapour peak on a mk 1. I read somewhere something about the 3 poles being different anti twist or something but I think this may be AI generated gash. When I have looked at images of the MK2 vapour peak the 3 pole didn't look any different ( obviously not actually seen this in the flesh to confirm) if any one does have a mk1 and a MK2 fancy a quick look see test. By the way I have also asked the same question in my local tackle shop they were unsure and didn't have any stock presently to do a quick eyeball. My thinking thought is even if the poles do have a different spigot. As long as the over fabric is the same size it would be easy to drill out the rivets on the old one and refit to the new . Any live testers out there .......

I preferred the original Camolite to the newer one.
Not using it anymore anyway, I went back in time to Shimano Trench and love the Shimmy build quality. None of the new gear I've seen makes me want to do my usual yearly 'refresh' of everything, this Trench gear might see me out! 😇

Full camo I can live with, green bivvy with camo mesh I can't.
TBH, I thought the dark colour on vids looked suspiciously blueish, but in the flesh it's not.
I agree totally with you re the camo pattern 👍 It's o.k but not the best.
I much prefer the Korda Dark camo, even the older Nash, push come to shove U.K DPM, but the Fox isn't that bad and I can live with it.
If the standard bivvy in green would've had dark mesh instead of camo I wouldn't have given the camo a 2nd look.....not my thing 👍
