I have 3 Harrison Trebuchet rods that need rebuilding. The tips have gone mliky where they have been set up underwater. The rods were originally built by Fosters and I believe they are fully varnished. The varnish will need stripping and new rings whipped on.
Does anyone have a recommendation who can do this? Have asked Lee Preston, Chris Palmer and Buzzard Rods without sucess.

I think you may have a shock coming your way, I looked at getting a set of rods redone recently, and it was not much less than buying a new set. I come to the conclusion, are they really worth it? nope - reels I think pay for themselves but rods a decent £100 each will do what I want, so I got a set of Gardner coverts.

I paid £75/rod just for the re whipping....that was near 10 years ago.

I've had four rods completely stripped and rebuilt and the end results are fantastic. I know that at least two other forum members have used him as well and are equally happy with his work.

A new ring set and new varnish could very easily be upwards of £250 a rod, depending on what ring set you choose, and possibly more.

Found him unresponsive and went with East Coast Rods as mentioned by Andy.

Had decent work done by east coast at good prices, great communication, quick turnaround and accurate completion time. What more can you ask

Dave made me a custom swingtip rod ,a while ago for winter still water roach or anything with fins ,lovely rod and I've had some great sessions using it ..

'Have you broke yr rod mister '.....lol,some youngsters don't even know what a swingtip is, it seems ...

It never occurred to me as we were talking about rebuilds...I also have one of Daves quiver rods, top build quality

Had Dave rebuild my tips and have just received them back (he gave me an accurate estimate on the rebuild time). The work he did is first class, they look new.
He kept in touch with me during the process and charged a reasonable amount too.
5 ***** from me.

Edit, just made myself feel old, must be around 34 years since I used to shop in Trafford Anglers, where Dave & Matt used to work. I recently bought one of his swing tip rods and another forum member had one made, both top quality work.
