I sleep on my back, and I've got size 13 feet.
My present sleep system (Avid benchmark X) is a nice system, but doesn't have a lot of room at the foot end. It puts lots of pressure on my feet and it gets a little painful after a while from it being a bit too tight on my toes. Does anyone know if the Solar SP-C tech SS is roomy at the foot end. Or any other SS for that matter. Or would I be better just getting a separate sleeping bag and un zipping the SS off the Avid and fitting a bag. Something like the new Trakker 365 ??

Interesting. I'd always dismissed oval beds as I move around a lot at night and didn't think there was enough room in them. I'll have to take another look. Thanks.

Not very scientific, I know!
But... One of my biggest bugbears with my previous Fox sleep system, is that it was tight and uncomfortable around my feet.
Since swapping to the Solar SP C-Tech Mk2, I no longer have that issue. I'm a size 11.

I just swapped a solar sp c-tech sleep system wide for a trakker levelite oval mf-hdr sleep system. The trakker bag is baggy at the foot end and has loads more room than the solar, I have size 11 feet.

Funnily enough I'm looking at the Fox Flatliner X systen and the bag looks tight on that frame too, I've asked the Q of Fox as to which bag's on it, the standard or xl. If its the standard I may well buy the 2 separately and get the xl bag.

You'd think fishing companies would take a leaf out of the hill walking/mountain climbing fraternity and put what's called a "sharks fin" at the bottom of bags and SS to give your feet more room. My old hillwalking bags had plenty of room at the foot end.

Just think of it as the square ends being rounded off so the bedchair can sit back into the bivvy better. You don't need the full bedchair width at the head or foot end.
I was using a compact bedchair so that sat back ok, but have now got a bigger bed (not one of the daft wide ones) so that will take up more floor space as it won't sit as far back into the corners.
Hopefully my feet don't get wet when sitting on my low chair in the bivvy doorway now.

It's more how to make best use of the sleeping area as a side sleeper phoetal postion. In a square bed I have my back against the back bar with knee out in front so I'm looking straight out onto the lake. In a oval bed I'd have to have my butt against the back bar meaning I'd be at a angle to the lake.
My heads a wierd place, probably overthinking it as usual, but it's a lot of wonga to make a mistake and the wife would kill me

Looking at that picture of the oval bed sort of convinces me it wouldn't be any good for me. I'm 6'3" so my feet would be right at the bottom of that bed. I move around a lot in the night and even with a sharks fin bottom, there doesn't look like I'd have enough fidget room for my feet.
I'm wondering if getting a Gardner duvet in the wide version and just swapping the SS off my Avid for the Gardner bag is probably my best bet.

Why not the Ventec All Season in XL, similar size?
Edit, The more I think about it the more I don't understand why bivvies aren't flat backed. I know Ridge Monkey have their detractors but let's be honest, their bivvy shape is the most sensible use of space.

I'd never even considered a Fox sleeping bag. Never even looked TBH. Only looked at the Gardner and Sungpak.
I use an Avid Dual Layer brolly system for my shelter. That's flat across the back, and enough room to get my Benchmark X in. Not enough room to get my chair in at night though, but everything is a bit of a compromise when you're on the larger size.

Just to give you a better impression of how well oval bedchairs use space, i recently bought the ESP 52" brolly, for winter day sessions. Decided this week i'd give it a run out, over night, sleeping under it on my MF HDR. It slotted under there really well, i stayed completely dry through a storm as well.
Its not a small bedchair so keeping it comfortably out of the elements under a 52" brolly shows the benefits of that oval shape.

A follow up to this, I bought the Fox Flatliner System and I've got to say I'm impressed so far.
Only spent a couple of nights on it, no back or hip ache and there's enough room for my size 11 feet not to feel restricted at the bottom when lying on my back.
Loving the extra width v my old ELS, can sleep foetal position and not feel pressure on my hip or knees. All in all very promising

Picked mine up in the week,first impressions are good.Its very well made,the legs feel more solid than the solar one I had and I know its stupid but the mud feet wont collect mud in them like the solar one did.
