Does anyone know of a company that does 4.25oz distance leads. I know Korda and fox do them but don't want to pay over £2 a lead

The big manufacturers charge what they think they can get away with.
If you accept £2 is reasonable they'll start charging £2.50, then £3 and so on until they stop selling because people think they are taking the piss.
I'd rather buy leads from one of the numerous independent sellers

West country leads sell 4.0 & 4.5oz distance leads for 75p each.
I've had several orders through them, 100% recommended

£2 a lead is a rip off all carp tackle is overpriced we all no that the more people pay it the more they will charge simple don't pay and the price will drop otherwise they will have a warehouse full of gear they can't shift

It can get me a couple of yards more and I can't get a 4.5 oz lead as far also that bit extra weight lets me straighten the line better when hitting the clip

Problem ive found is most of these leads made by 'a bloke in a shed', dont actually weigh what you think they do. I first realised this when i bought a load of leads off Potty decades ago.
the original poster may find some of his existing 4oz leads only weigh 3.5oz whilst others weigh 4.5oz depending upon where he got them from. You need to find a producer who uses accurate CNC produced moulds.
He may buy some 4.25oz leads cheap only to find they weigh less than his existing 4oz leads. Most people selling leads dont weigh their leads accurately & havent a clue how much they actually weigh. They think if the mould is labelled 4oz, then the lead produced must weigh 4oz.
I have found Korda leads to be completely accurate.
FYI I weigh them on jewellers scales to check.
I produce leads for my own use using JB Moulds. Expensive but i think worth it.

Completely agree that the majority of the leads from independent makers can be way off the stated weight. I always check on the jewellers scales.
Only one I have found to be accurate are DS Leads from Kidderminster, unfortunately for the original poster they don't do 4.25 oz

Having read this, I just checked the last leads I got ftom Westcountry leads, 4oz rough coated swivel lead weighs 4.01 oz

As a former lead seller the issue is with off the shelf moulds and the quality of lead being used new lead has more tin content than older code 4 church roof type lead lol
I had my own shapes that where made on a cnc with new lead and every egg a bird but relying on eBay or shop bought moulds it's a lottery but that's what lead makers are up against,
