Hi all hope you can point me in the right direction. I listened to a Nash podcast by Ryan need and Wayne mansford and they talked about the time they were in the bcac at farlows and they used a friend's torch that would light up the island in the dark and make it look like day light.
Now the nights are drawing in alot sooner I'm looking for something like this to help me with my fishing straight from work. I'm fishing up to a island at about 60 - 70 yards and my eye sight isn't the best in the light but I want to be sure I'm putting it in the correct place every time. Does anyone own or know of a torch that can help me with the cast in the dark. Thanks in advance people

I got an led lenser MT14 for exactly the same situation, you can focus the beam if required. I hasten to add I only use it to fish to an island, so it doesn't bother any other anglers. I wouldn't use it to focus on an open water marker. Unless you're the only one on the lake. I place it on a folded towel, either on the floor, or on a bucket, you can get it on the required spot, no movement whilst casting, unlike a headtorch.

Yeah I'm glad you wrote that because I was just popping back to say I won't be using it for open water because of other anglers. But yeah in the week it's almost always empty but it's just so I'm not squirrel fishing lol. Thanks for the reply I'll look into that

Usb recharge so can be done on the bank if you have a battery charger.

Oh... Shame you need a battery charger as well, would have been nice to charge straight in the torch.

I'd look at the Olight range - I have a Warrior X Pro and my fishing partner has a Warrior 3 - both crazy bright, really solidly made and good battery life. Mine will throw a beam further whilst his is a better flood light and has more features/modes (e.g. strobe).

Lensers really good for this - its the only time / situation I use mine. Alternatively get a baitboat with decent headlights and GPS!

Are there any rules about using bright lights?
Not everyone will appreciate lakes being lit up as night as if it were daytime.

My reply was for meant for anyone who reads this thread that they should be aware that bright lights are not always allowed.
With angling etiquette on a downward trend we don't want people thinking that lighting up a lake is the norm.
I think that's being helpful.

When i said battery charger, i should have said power bank. The torch comes with the cable to connect up.

Nebo make some good torches. I use one for taking the bait boat to the far margin in the dark (no pegs on the far margin)

I think its become less so over the last couple of decades in terms of etiquette - I've fished lakes where the only acceptable light source was that coming off your alarm head and the flash of a camera if and when one eventually came out - woe betide even a sliver of white light for any other reason and your name was mud . . .
Stroll on to 2024 and I think peeps genuinely don't care. Rechargeable devices / 'permanently on' mobile phones / laptops / tablets / bivvy lights and powerpacks mean a constant source of illumination for a lot of anglers - and tbf I don't think it actually matters / affects catch rates anyway . . . .just bring your Korda Camo eyemask when you actually want some kip

I think most of us "old buggers" try to use as little light as possible, and certainly try to not infringe on other anglers. I don't use a light if i don't need to. I use a red light to net fish and weigh them. The only time i use the torch is to cast tight to an island, where i need to get in a gap in the branches. I would never shine a light across the pond, unless i was the only one on the lake. I never set up next to another angler without asking them if it's ok and where are they fishing, so i don't cast over them. Etiquette, and good manners should matter.

I was on norton disney at the weekend on a lake exclusive, I walked to the toilet and looked at one of the other lakes and no word of lie it was like Blackpool illuminations...ive never seen so much white light around a lake in my life...if that what day ticket carping like then it's not for me

I've got the Fenix shadowmaster head torch and it's perfect for this. I mainly use it on the lowest setting but it's good to have more power if you need it. It's also good if the guy on the other side of the lake decides to light up your bivvy in the middle of the night as you can temporarily blind them..

Have a look at coast torches, I have got a HP7R which is mega bright easily does 200meters on focused beam and mega build quality. Head torch wise really rate Felix shadow master more really good red beam and mega bright main beam if needed.
