Looking for a thermal cover to really boost the warmth of my bag.
Looking at the Fox VRS3, any opinions on this or others? Needs to be XL.
I have seen wax covers with a wool liners, whilst I like the idea I'm not sure how warm it would be.

+1 for Edel - bullet proof goretex made to measure and options of either quilted / fleece insulation

Another vote for Edel Maya. Had mine made with pockets for storm poles to use in summer so no shelter needed.

I was thinking that myself. Is it warm enough for a winter cover? which is the main purpose. I'm looking to boost the warmth for winter without upgrading my bag

Yeah, I use mine on my 3 season Fox Duralite and it's plenty warm enough. I went for the quilted option

Plenty warm enough. I have the quilted on my avid benchmark lite system and in winter I sometimes just sleep under it to save having to strip down to a tshirt to not sweat!

I have the quilted and its not a massive amount of additional insulation but what it does do (if you get the skirt made long enough) is keep out any drafts when moving about etc with the goretex also mitigating any damp / water droplets / condensation build up etc.
Reckon the fleece lined would probably be slightly warmer - maybe ask for a heavy pile fleece fabric if available rather than just standard micro fleece style . . .

if you're getting custom made then see if they can add a mozzie mesh for the head section.

I use an old Trakker thermal cover that I bought many many years ago, very basic but very warm for using all year round.
But the best thing I did with it if you get one made is to add a large rare Earth magnet instead of having all toggles to secure it to the bed. I have four toggles on the bed, two bottom, two top, and one magnet which connects to the cover by a toggle and I reposition it to the head end at the side which I get out off.
The purpose of this is so that I can get out of bed without having to undo a toggle fast. Over the years I found it annoying when you don't fasten the cover to your bed, it can slip off whilst your asleep.
But, it will only work if you have steel parts on the bed frame, mine just clamps to the steel hinge parts where the legs and frame all meet as rest of the frame is aluminium. Or, alternatively add magnets to the frame or a steel bar.
And one of the best things, if everything matches up, you get in your sleeping bag or just under the cover itself, pull the cover over you and you will hear the magnet "Clunk" to the frame as it swings over and latches onto the steel part of your bed, so no need to mess about fastening toggles. And as rare Earth magnets are very strong, they don't come apart whilst you sleep.

I too use the old Trakker thermal cover, the type with the thick pile fleece, if I were to get a new one it'd defo have the thicker fleece. Used it in summer too as just a blanket and in winter sometimes I take it on day sessions to put across my legs to keep the wind off.

I have a trakker peach skin thermal cover had it a few years now and rate it through the colder months,I was offered the choice of this or an AD one and it was paper thin,glad I went for the trakker one,both were the same price too £89.99

I too had this cover - possibly the best cover Trakker ever produced (albeit heavy) until the mice chewed it - gutted

I still use mine too. Love the peachskin outer to sit on. Got it free with a magazine subscription I took out many many years ago and it's still going strong!

The one I had was pre-peachskin - it was a thick almost canvas like outer with a deep pile lining . . . impregnable - apart from rodent infestations!

Nooo, so not good, little sods! I have the Trakker bag from the time that went with the cover, the one with down in it, kipper I think, may be snooze, can't remember, nice bag that.
