After some more as mine has just ran out.
Had some Avid stuff but wasn't overly impressed with it, just wondering if anyone has recommendations for a good brand or are they all pretty much the same?

Ive used the fox stuff for years. I found the korda one slightly too thick

I tend to use the middy pole elastic in purple colour/strength, never had any issues nice and thin, grips the line and easy enough to remove when you're finished by just rubbing it up and down the line. Never snags on a cast

I have found the stuff from the carp brands to be pretty poor - snaps too easily & leaves large knots.

I had some fine match stuff that was amazing - very fine, supple & knotted down superbly to leave a small knot on the line & I could leave longer tags to ensure I could see it easily. it was purple but not sure of the brand.

I was watching a korum new product release video last night on YouTube, they have just released a bright green one with a flat profile more like a thin tape, looks pretty decent too

Number 3 pole elastic. Loads of different colours . Get the one you want.

+1 for pole elastic
Go to your local tackle shop, find a diameter and colour you like, just avoid the hollow stuff, unless you want it.

I've been using electrical tape but after reading this thread I might go back to pole elastic.

The ESP stuff is supposed to have a diameter of 0.45mm, that seems to be extremely thin.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the thinnest pole elastic approx 1mm ?

If you're going down the pole elastic route, I've used the middy pole elastic in purple for years and not bought anything else since, sign of a good product for me. Pull it nice and tight so it goes a lighter purple, never slips, never snags on the cast it's perfect. Be sure NOT to get the hollow version though, you want the standard version

ESP stuff is tosh.

Pole elastic-look for long lengths as its normally cheaper for more metres than rebadged carp stuff.

I have used electrical tape for years and it's mostly alright but I have had it slip a few times, especially if it's hot weather.

I have not tried pole elastic but will give it a go. Does it come off the main line OK???

I have previously used dental floss and with the right knot it great.
Wrap around the mainline a few times, then do about six granny knot, and go through twice on the last couple and leave the tag ends about 1cm long.
This then grips the line and leaves a stand off tag that's easily cut off with no damage to the main line. It goes through the rings with no issues.

I've always used fox magic marker, shame they have discontinued it now

Ok so I'm going to buy some Middy pole elastic in purple, but there are 2 types, does it matter which one?
The first one says Size 4to8
Second one says Size 4to6

Be a tad thick ....I use no.3 but check diameter.
Too low it will break off or cut through.

Pole elastic comes off easy unlike floss type material.

The fox stuff that was on 20m spools was v good.

If you can find the taska stuff (see bargain bins) in pre cut lengths is great. Orange version.

I never had issues with it coming off or damaging the line. a 5 turn well lubricated water knot pulled nice & tight so all of the elastic has stretched will ensure that it stays in place.

I just use the green Korda stuff. £3.50 lasts about 2 seasons, works perfectly well and the green is easy to see under head torch. Bit of over thinking going on here.

Agree, over thinking a minor issue, I used to use electrical tape, but have experienced it moving, so now use some solar elastic marker that I have had for ages. The reason I have had it for ages is, I mostly use wrap sticks now. There are odd occasions when their use is difficult.

I've used the Middy pole elastic for years, my preference is the yellow, might be thicker than the purple that I also use, but the yellow is far easier to spot in the dark.

I had the Taska pre cut lengths but found them too short to tie especially with cold hands in Winter otherwise the elastic was ideal.

Im not sure if im missing something, but the current orange fox edges marker elastic is £3.99 for 10 meters. The middy pole elastic is a similar price for only 5m.

As per my post at the start of the thread, i have found the fox stuff more than adequate.

I still use Tippex must be an age thing lol.

Jewellery elastic in various colours/diameters/stretch is sub £2 for 10m, so half price.
If you can be bothered there's money to be saved on the Carp tax, if you can't then pay it, personally I pole fish too so I always have some
