Good Morning all,

I currently have the ESP Barrel bobbins for my carp fishing and i am tempted to upgrade them as they.

I like the JAG gear but their safeliners dont seem to be anything special at the price.

I was wondering if there was a "go to" that this forum recommended?

I have not yet, bobbins tend to get little attention when it comes to marketing so i will be looking at what people here recommend

I thought the JAG were rubbish.

Probably no help but I replaced my esp ptfe bobbins with solar titanium arms and bobbins but never really liked the solar bobbins so am now using the esp ones on solar arms and much prefer them. Have tried several different types but always go back to the esp ones.

Keiths mps mag heads, love them.

Why did I want to start typing by stating I'm older...fgs..I was young once and the fish don't care

Solar Penny whistles, mine are over 30 years old, fished with solar ball head, mostly for tension work where weight isn't a consideration for me.

Keith at Defiant MPS kindly made me up some mini mag heads based on the old Solar plastic penny whistle thin type design, love them (note Keith said at your own risk as being so small they could be prone to cracking, they haven't touch wood)

Before that I had the Cygnet Clinga Lite, very much on a similar vein to the old solar (I like thin bobbins). They weren't made by Cygnet back them, wth was their name, I have Muddy Disco stuck in my head for some reason, someone let me know.

I like the look of the stainless Safeliners, better visbility for the isotope, but I'm sentimental about my pennies

You could go over to an Arm type indicator.

Another vote for Defiant mps

I'd also vote for the defiant MPS mag heads - had some for a few years and decided I wanted a change (for no reason) so switched over to the Solar titanium heads on MCF bike chains.
After two uses I ordered another set of MK2 Mag heads as thought the Solar heads/line clips were trash - I won't be changing again as these do everything I want from a bobbin.

The arm type indicator is what I'm thinking to change to.

The esp barrels have served me well over the many years I've had them, I just keep finding my self wanting to change the weight of the bobbin more frequently than I like, with the sliding weight on the arm, this becomes a lot easier.

Do the defiant MPs warlocks come with a quick release for the carbon arm? It looks like it might and if so, that would be perfect since my alarms stay screwed on to my bank sticks and then sit on the outside of my thinking anglers bag

Yes you can have the quick release bracket left on the bankstick under the alarms, the hanger arm just pushes on to the bracket, takes 1 second

with other hobbies, i have been known to become a brand fanboy, i try not to do that with tackle, just buy what ever is the best value for money.

I do try to stay away from Fox stuff though for a few reasons.
