Boiling a kilo of tigers currently after a 48 hour soak. How long do/have people left them to steep for? I did it years ago but left them a day or two before using them but I'm going to soak them in condensed milk before use. Just not entirely sure how long for. At what point would they turn beyond use?

Thanks

Why soak them in condensed milk? They have enough of their own sugary gloopiness.
Have a search for TCarpers prep method

Condensed milk is an odd choice. They are great without anything extra. Personally I use brown sugar to boost the gloop levels and sweetness.

The tip I've been given for tigers is to soak them in full fat coke. Nit tried it yet as nuts are banned on my syndicates but if I do use them again in the future I will definitely give that a try

Once they have cooled down I bag them up with a bit of the boiled juices, they work fine like this.

Surely it's not a case of how long will the tigers be useable for, but how long until the condensed milk goes off and potentially works against you.

I was hoping with the water they're steeping in it would thin out a bit but I guess that depends on how gloopy the water is. It was mainly going to be for the cloud of attraction I imagine it would cause

Soaked for 2 days, boiled for 45 minutes and been sat in that water for a couple of days now, was just gonna add the milk to the bucket and mix it through

your tigers wont be able to hold anything else post boiling mate.

If anything, id water the milk down add soak the tigers in that, then once boiled up, just add the liquid back in to keep them wet.

Ive never really been a massive fan of changing the tigers profile by adding various things. in saying that i do the following

soak in coca cola and 500grms of glucose (per 1kg tigers) for 48 hrs

removed tigers from soaking liquid and store

Boil

Drain

add glucose/cola liquid when tigers are luke warm

Is there a reason you don't boil the tigers in the solution of cola and glucose ? Is it plain water you boil them in ?

it turns into a brittle bar with the heat and sugar mate.

I tend to dilute the cola/glucose liquid, 60/40 with de chlorinated water when boiling

Could have tried the caramel flavour milk nothing better than having your nuts soaking in caramel milk might make them more attractive and taste better 😂😂😂

I do a 3 to 1 mix of tigers to sugars ( ie 3 kg tigers 1kg sugar) then soak them in double the water ( ie 8 litre) with the sugar in also. I soak them for a couple of days and they will take on enough water to look ready to use with the same crunch as cooked ones. I then boil for 30 minutes and let cool. to store I use empty fizzy pop bottles, i funnel them in then top up with liquid to the very top to keep air out then put the lid on. They store for ages like this and save room in the freezer. Also do maize in the same manner and it stores well. You get a lovely sweet syrup from the stored particle that fish love.

I found it impossible to improve on the humble tiger. Simple 48hour soak and then 30-40 mins boil. Then in the airing cupboard for a few days to ferment. I tried flavouring, soaking in different liquids etc and nothing improved them, if anything it detracted from their appeal. Even tried soaking in tiger slime which just attracts bream from anywhere! The one thing that improved catch rates considerably however was fishing chopped Tigers alongside whole ones.

I like em plain and fresh! Tried coke, brown sugar, secret agent, all work but no noticeable difference tbh. I like em fresh or gloopy, soon as they start smelling alcoholic I'm not so keen

I always go for the old sweet and simple. Soak for 48 hrs then boil with sugar, leave to ferment for a few days somewhere warm so they go all slimy but still smell sweet and they are good to go. I don't like to leave them fermenting for too long after they go slimy though as I don't like that fermented sometimes vinegariness that they get, and yes I did totally make up the word "vinegariness"
