Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a solid feeling mini big pit for 10ft rods?
I've trawled the past threads which probably means I'm after something that doesn't exist.
At the moment I've got some Daiwa BR25a's, which I was using for everything and then a pair of Tournament 5000ts that I've put on my 12fts. Since getting the Tournaments the br25as just don't feel the same.
In an ideal world I'd be after something that felt like a downsized tournament.
I've had Okumas so know it won't feel the same but it seems like the closest thing I see might be the Okuma inception 6000?
They've been good to me so am I better off just keeping the br25as?

can't go wrong with shimano. i've got 5500xtb for spod and marker and 5500 xsc for my main rods and love them

Shimano man me, I had the aero gt 6010 on my soft action 10ft rods, lovely.
Then went a bit bigger and got XTE super bait runners, sweet.
But if it was a bit weedy, then reeling in I felt like I lacked some cranking power...
I got some daiwa emblem S 5000t reels. I have to say, they are perfect.
A good size spool for smoother casting with 0.35 mono, nice and light, handle folds flat for easy transport on a quiver, good cranking and fast retrieve. Cheap and bombproof.
I'm even going to use a pair on my big trent barbel rods.
Need to change the line clip and do a quick drag conversion, but all fairly easy stuff.

Why not just use the 5000Ts on the 10ft rods? Plenty of other folk do.

Cheers for the suggestions so far.
I'm just not sold on the Shimanos, I've used them for all my bait runners in the past and they've been great but the newer ones I've picked up just haven't felt like they were going to last the course in the same way. I know I could be wrong on that though. I haven't picked up any really high end ones though.
I hadn't considered the older Emblems. They look good, cheers.
Just want some options really but am tempted, as Nick suggested, to just stick the 5000ts on and perhaps invest in some spare spools instead. They do feel pretty heavy on there but they spend 95% on the rest anyway don't they.

The Inception 6000's are great reels, I now have 6 of them. I mainly use them on the Trent for Barbel, where I spend a lot more time with the rod in hand and recasting than I do when carp fishing so they get plenty of use. Sold my SS2600's, Emblems and baitrunners.

I like my br25s. If you wanted a tournament, the ss2600 is just that.

Original castizms still the best mini pit for me if you can find some.
I put some SHIMANO ULTEGRA CI4+ 5500 XTC reels on my sons 10ft scopes. As much as I am a Daiwa fan must admit very impressed with them. Looks the part, line lay is fantastic and the drag is very good. Also not overly heavy.

If you like your Daiwa Tournament 5000ts on your main carp rods then consider the emblems I mentioned for the 10ft rods.
They are just a lighter, much less squeaky/squealy option

Daiwa did make a Emblem S-4500T size reel. Just A bit smaller size reel body & spool and did suit my YAC-stalkers well. Maybe an option?

Yeh the 5000t is quite a heavy reel. If you already have them though I'd just give it a go and see how it feels. I know others who use them on 9ft rods so it must be workable.
At the end of the day there is no right or wrong answer, just what you like or dislike. I got around the weight of most big pits on small rods by putting Basia SLDs on my 9ft rods...which I'm aware most people will think is utter madness but I really like the pairing.
I also use Daiwa GS4000 reels, which are nice and very light but less powerful than a big pit.

They definately are smaller in 4500. Had them in both sizes.

SS2600 don't really feel like Tournies; but are fine on 10' rods if you don't need loads of high diameter line and are not chucking far. Best option has to be Castizm or the newer Whisker 25QD . . .

The Whisker 25QD look great but are totally out of my price range for the foreseeable future.
I've gone for some Emblem x5000t blacks, which came with spare spools. The cost of 3 of those was the same as 3 new spools for the tournaments.
