Going to france fishing for the first time in two wks. Is it correct that you must have a breathalyser kit with you? Also what other things are needed as there driving laws seem a bit different to ours.

You need breathalysers, fluorescent jacket, the head light deflectors, UK sticker and a warning triangle. Halfords do handy packs for driving in Europe to save trying to get it all individually

you would be MUCH better posting this in the Venues (foreign ) section
mate things have changed recently
and I havent been for a few years now but I do know about 9 years ago they had a big purge on people coming off the ferry they were stopping all the English cars checking for reflective tabards and headlight converters it was in a big layby opposite a big supermarket ( reckon it was so you could cross the road and by them) ?

Cheers everyone. Going on euro star. We have reflective waist coats at work in the stores so will pinch two of them tonight when im in.
You don't need breathalyser's I thought they scrapped that idea a few years ago???
I never take one but hi-viz,spare lamps,GB sticker if not on the number plate,I always have a small fire extinguisher with me also .
Also if you plan on doing more trips in France I would consider getting a Sanef tag for the tolls.

it was About the time they bought out the compulsive breathalyser kits
so not sure if they scrapped it also ??? but they did bring out a law if your SATNAV had speed camera warnings you had to disable it or you could get fined and your satnav confiscated ?
AND pretty sure you HAVE to carry a warning triangle with the reflective tabards ?

A bit hard to confiscate your sat nav if it's built into your car Gerry 😜😜 sadly tho mine hasn't got speed camera warnings but plenty of devices out there 😉

My mate got an on the spot fine for not wearing a seat belt and he was in the passenger seat. I think if they get a chance to nick an English plate they will take it. Best not to open yourself up to problems

Don't forget the clean air certificate if you are planing to drive through any of the cities covered by the regulations.

******** ??? Not at all. It is the law and the fact that you have never been stopped has nothing to do with it.

Watch out for speed cameras as well there was a time you wouldn't hear anything when you got flashed these days you definitely get a fine in the post.
Dont wear flips flops or crocs while driving.

Breathalysers never came into law and the UK sticker was a UK requirement not French.
