Hi has anyone had any experience with the free spirit seeker rods I'm looking at the 3.25tc,
I was after the e class gold but found out they had stopped this line so wanted to find out if any of you had any thoughts on the seeker line of rods as they do look nice or is there anything better out there at this price range

Tried them today in the shop. I found it a very floppy and cheap feeling blank.

The hi-s are out of my price range and I want the e class originally but they are discontinued I believe

I think e-classes can be found second hand. Personally I really think Free Spirit are taking the mick with these Seeker rods. They really are not worth the money they charge for it.

Still shops advertising E Class Rods, dependent on the test curve you are looking for I can recommend ES 2.75tc from free spirit, good condition ones do come up on the second hand market.

Did you compare with the newer E Class Blank?
The newer one is slightly heavier and floppier.
It ain't no casting rod.
That's why they discontinued it.

I have a bit of a thing for rods in terms that I look for specific things. The e class I tried in the past were the gold versions. The Hi-s I have myself. In general the Seeker rod is a very floppy rod with little backbone.

Ok thanks for this feedback, so if you had a budget of £300 a rod and want a set of 3 12f 3 1/4 tc what would you go for theses days

You could probably get some custom built Torrix for about that price. My mate has some and he really rates them. Free Spirit S lite may be another option.

Free Spirit S range are excellent rods.
I would look at second hand Greys Aircurves, then you'll have some spare for bait.

If I was shopping for rods with that budget I would look at the Code rods. From what I have seen and heard a very good rod at a decent price. From mass produced rods, as already recommended, I can personally recommend the Greys Aircurve in 3.25lb TC, a brilliant all round rod for the money. I'm sure the newer Aiircurves will be as good amd more readily available, and still in your budget

Anyone compared The Aircurves with some of those FreeSpirit Blanks, that are very light and slim?
I realise they're not AS slim, but still slimish, but what about the weight?

Just to say I bought a pair of E Class Gold in 3.25lb. They cast really nicely and its hard to say anything really bad about them. That said I had half a dozen fish between 19lb and mid twenties on them but just didn't enjoy how they felt. To me the rods were clinical but felt totally soulless. It seems like other people quite like them though
I swapped them out for a pair of Harrisons Aviator Flex and they are a totally different league, albeit £90 more.

The Aircurves are deffo heavier than the Seeker rods. But the Seeker rods are deffo feeling very cheap as a whole, but try them in real life if you can.
