When baiting up would it still be the same number of wraps for both rods as the distance sticks are still 12ft apart? Tia

It's good to move a mates sticks when he's casting to a far margin.The look on their face when their solid bag lands on the far bank is priceless (only do it when you can walk around to retrieve)

Yes, if using 12ft between wrap sticks, but add 2ft extra when wrapping your 10ft rods up, if you're fishing a spot you found and baited with 12ft rods.
Transversely, if you found your spot with 10ft rods, then shorten your 12ft spod rod distance by 2ft more than you usually would for swingback etc.
2ft is not a massive distance but could make all the difference if trying to fish accurately.

If you want to boil a litre of water but only have 2 half litre cups how Many cups should you boil?
If you want to fish over 50 x 12 mm baits but only have 24mms how many should you use?
If the petrol gauge says 20 miles left but the speed limit is in kilometres do you drive twice as much.
It's basic maths - if the spot is 80 yards out - you can set the sticks at 1 yard and do 80 or at 40 yards and do two - the length of the rod has absolutely no bearing on distance. The spot will always be 80 yards out even with a 16 foot rod.

Yes people clip their Spods up a little short to calculate for the drop back of the lead if I remember correctly it's a foot less per 3 feet of water you are fishing in. E.g 9 foot of water the Spod would be clipped up 3 feet less to calculate for the swing back of the lead. But this has no difference with the length of the rods.

Yes you can set them at what ever bloody distant you want! But let's be honest to keep things from getting confusing as most people fish 12ft rods an most distant sticks come with a little cord witch it set at 12ft 👀👀 shocking that really don't you think. If the sticks are always the same distant it doesn't then Get confusing if your re wrapping at 4 in the morning and forget your using your 10ft rods half asleep. As you said nothing nice to say don't say it!
P.s if you want to set your sticks 1 yard apart then crack on but don't confuse the bloke the poor bloke.

I was questioning the question - a measurement can't change that's not simple maths, that's basics - so as some of the answers are around, swing back I wondered if the question was badly written or if it was truly being asked if distances change by using a different rod length.
If you draw a pencil line that is 20cm long with a 6 inch pencil - do you need to draw a shorter line if you use a 3 inch pencil ?
Plus there is a massive advance of having your sticks 8 foot apart, firstly you can tell your mates you are hitting the clip 36 wraps - secondly the bloke opposite counting your wraps is well screwed his next session

If it takes 12wraps with your 12ft spod rod, then the actual number of wraps with your 10ft rod will be the same.
It is the rod length that is different, NOT the amount of line coming off the reel.
That is like asking if I walk my 12ft spod/marker rod out 48metres, will my 10feet rod need to be walked out something different...
