Hi all. As above.. keep getting these super draw things coming up on my FB feed.. Are any actually worth having a punt on. Don't intend to go mad on tickets if I decide to give them a whirl. Any idea on what I'd need to cough up to get a semi decent return?

So I've entered the capital carp competitions a few times. It seems reasonable. I've not had much luck but I never do! I suppose yeah, it's gambling, their are clearly people that spend a lot of money on it, and would probably be better just buying what they win 😂😂 but as with anything, in it to win it etc etc

I'd bet nearly all the carp tackle competitions, you would be far better gambling else where for money. And then buying the thing. But somehow people get tricked into playing terrible odds, because their is a picture of some bite alarms.

I have a go on the capital carp one every now and again I look at it like its a bit like buying a scratch card if you dont mind a flutter every now and again and can afford it i dont mind that. Some have better odds than others and it says on there how many tickets for each prize well it does on capital carp. You can watch the live draws on there facebook page which i do every now and again but as others have said its gambling thats not really regulated or works within a grey area of gambling laws, its a bit of a shock (well it was to me) when they scroll through the entrants before each draw and you see the same two or three names coming up over and over i wouldnt like to think how much some folk have ploughed into them.

I'd definitely agree. Certain names on that must spend a phenomenal amount of money, and surely be better off buying the stuff 😂😂

I know, which baffles me why people play them you can see the odds and they are utterly terrible so why bother.
Some are doing ones where a ticket is £2.99 to try win 5kg of boilies. Sure the odds are fairly good with only 20 odd ickets. But why in gods name would you gamble that much money for such a measley prize

It's the buzz of the win and feeling of euphoria. Unfortunately it doesn't last that long but those addicted to gambling will pour money away that they can't afford to get that next fix.

I used to enter the ones via post in all the magazines many years ago won quite a few times I won rods,bivvy,bait and tackle even a pod which I sold on to someone.
Last comp I won was online via total carp which was the Speero luggage range 2 years ago and I even won a match reel out of my brothers match fishing magazine which I gave to him

Years and years ago when I was a sprog in the 1980's, I won 2 Daiwa J1350 reels in a year from Anglers Mail, for a 5lb chub and a 6lb tench which were both reported to them for their fish of the week.

I nearly fell off my chair as my name said I won the £1500 prize .
Checked my phone and was an email and the prize was paid into my account by 9 pm.
I was well happy as my luck has not been good at all the last few years .
So there you go .

That and national lottery seem like a tax on the stupid, something Jim Gibbinson said years ago.

Someone questioned the 39p ticket price and worked out the sales generated were over £550 for a power bank worth alot less, I commented there was only 1 winner and mark Pitchers blocked me 🤣 truth hurts but they put all these pictures up of people winning and showing off their prizes...its a business amd they wouldn't be doing it if they were losing money

In the beginning all mine were from posting the answers in,I'd buy a book of stamps every month and just fill them in and post them surprising how many times I won really,then it went to a premium rate number then online.

Anyway I have bought some more tickets for 5 of the prizes and see what occurs being I'm well up at the moment .

Just be careful it's the legit site as there have been clone dodgy sites on FB if your just using a browser. A few of them have apps now so you can be sure they are legit. YWC, CGG etc

i don't think it's a coincidence that first time players win good prizes...a bit like the heroin dealer saying have a couple of bags on me.....they know theyre getting their worth back and more.....im not suggesting anyone below is an addict to carp comps or heroin lol...there's always alot of first time winners on their first go announced...coincidence?? I don't think so

A set of daiwa daiwa basia x45 tt alps x3 I was offerd £1350 cash alternative
Then in the next draw on the same evening I won 15k cash
Had a punt again a couple of weeks after and won a korda chair and also a rt4 bait boat although I got given 2.5k cash alternative.
I have also won on some of the instant wins a head torch and few spools of line etc
It's all down to luck I spent no more that 15 quid when I won the 15k and the rods and for the bait boat I spent £8.80.

A few years ago my son won £5K of Wychwood Tackle on a free magazine competition, I won a few things on the same thing, I won a set of Nash RS1s, a load of bait, and a load of Fox terminal tackle but I have never had a go at these big competitions, how can anyone win a VW T5 van worth a small fortune? they would have to sell an awful lot of tickets to even cover the cost, would this be a scam ?? I have no idea but the guys doing these competitions started with tackle and now onto vehicles

Didnt do any good, however i was bombarded with emails from them daily aswell as social media post trying to entice me to gamble, so i ended up unsubscribing. Not fishing but 2 people from my work enter those comps 1 entered a money one and won 15,000 the other entered a golf one and won a full set of golf clubs worth 3k and he only spent £10 but now is hooked on entering the guy who won the cash has been doing so for ages so probably spent a small fortune but not 15k, I spent a tenner won nothing but not done it again.
