I see this is available again.. has anyone tried the tribal version? Is it any good? Or is it completely different to the black like the invisitec is? Also what's with the such a massive jump from the 0.35 dia up to 0.41? Is it really that diameter??

I can see the 0.405mm on sale at JR tackle and I'm interested if its 30lb, I got well and truly spanked by a large cat on my Daiwa Sensor line last weekend. Any links that show what diameter's equate to what lb's?

As a compariosn the original 15lb black was 0.38mm it may be they are now using the euro specs as these have always been completely different to the uk ratings

Yea see this shows technium 0.355 as 0.38 realistically so what would 0.41 be realistically, could be slightly higher or lower? 0.355 apparently breaks at 18lb...
I've been used to fishing with fluoro but have been getting cut off from pike biting through the line. Am tempted to try the 0.41 technium as it's on sale, bet it sinks well and still casts well, can't be any worse that what I've been used to with fluoro but I will know I won't be getting cut off that's for sure!!

I bet they can, but the point is they seem to have an affinity with fluorocarbon lines due to the way they glint when light hits them.
I haven't fished much this year but have been cut off twice while playing fish due to pike biting the line. Once while I was sat with rods in water waiting, even fishing slack lines a pike went for my line in the margin and bit through it and once last year a pike bit through my line during a run in the margin resulting in the fish I hooked at roughly 16wraps having to try and shed the hook and line.
I swapped over to braid at that point last year but was worried the braid was going to damage my American tackle eyes on my rod during casting as it just feels so savage. Anyway was just having a browse at what mono is available these days and noticed a) technium was back and b) there is a tribal version.
I may just go back on the braid as I have been assured it should not damage the eyes on the rods, its just I had to wait nearlly a yr for those rods and they are my only set of rods so don't want to damage or compromise them. Real shame as I love fluoro it works well for me other than the damn pike seem to love it, oh and you need a mortgage to pay for it....

Hmmm.. not really, I understand how manufacturers mislead with breaking strains so I only compare on diameters. I'm more interested on what the ACTUAL diameter of the supposed 0.41 diameter version is... bearing in mind the 0.355 Is ACTUALLY 0.38 on tackle box line tests.

tacklebox line test is many years old and probably based on original black technium (tinned) .... Im not really sure why you would question the latest diameter specification though but the only way to be sure if you doubt the specification is to buy some and measure it yourself

Hi interested in your comment that you have been bitten off by Pike recently , just this week I recast a rod, within minutes the indicator twitched to the top , dropped back , then crept back up to the alarm, at this point I wound down to nothing, just bare line fluttering in the breeze, the line appeared perfect and looked like it had been cut with a pair of scissors, Pike do you think ?

Exactly that mate, same happened to me. I saw the bugger swim off, it was a couple feet from the bank!! Were you using fluorocarbon?

By last updated they have simply added new lines they have tested or deleted lines no longer available. The tec black in the line test must be the old original stuff as its been listed with the same spec for many years.

I ended up going for syncro xt in 18lb as I prefer the idea of a clearish line. Went with 18lb to hopefully get better sinking properties, dont need to cast far, but need really good abrasion. Expect I'll end up ripping it off when I get annoyed with it twisting on me and go for cm90 or technium. 😆 didn't like the idea of only getting 620m of technium in 0.40 so was tempted with cm90 but then remembered I was struggling with daytime bites in the past after reading previous threads. See how I get on.
Only switching from fluoro as keep getting snapped off from pike as they seem to like the glint from fluoro.

I'm currently on CM90 which I love, but I am fishing quite far to the opposite margin all the time and would just like a bit less stretch (I used to use and rate black technium) Hopefully this new black technium is as good or better than the original.

I've used Black Technium for years and before that Catana, both really good lines.
I was surprised at the stated diameter for the new stuff. I've checked it out with a micrometer and it's more or less correct.
I've been using the 0.305 in the UK this season and I've used the 0.355 in France, once earlier this year with a second trip in just over week.
So far so good. both diameters cast well, although the 0.355 has been used mostly with a boat. Both have great bite detection. I did experience considerable twist with the 0.355 using the boat but this was about normal. Had cats to over 50 on the 0.305 so still tough as old boots (actually it was my Wife who had the big cat)
Overall, very happy and no intention of changing (even though the Gamma line looks very good)

that would suggest the 0.305 is nearer the old 0.33mm dia (12lb) .... Ive never needed anything stronger than the 12lb (0.33mm) in the past
