Has anyone had any issues with eBay/Royal Mail and how it got resolved?
I ordered something from eBay a couple of weeks ago and was “delivered” on the 10th May. But I never received the parcel despite the tracking saying it was delivered? All the tracking showed was it was scanned near my house. I contacted the seller and they got in touch with Royal Mail who told him the parcel was delivered “in range” of the address. I asked the seller if he could get an exact location of where the parcel was actually delivered like house number or neighbours bin etc but they wasn't interested and just said the tracking says delivered 😡
Raised a dispute with eBay and also got back to Royal Mail to make a complaint/case. Was told this would take 72 hours max so after 3 days I rung them back to ask what's going on, only to be told it takes upto 10 days. So I let the seller know through the eBay dispute that RM were investigating still but they asked eBay to close the case as the tracking says delivered which eBay did. So I got eBay to ring me and told them I'm still waiting for RM to finish their investigation which I said in the messages in the dispute so why have you closed it
Got an email from RM today saying they carried out a full investigation and the Depot Manager said he spoke to the delivery driver and he said that as he was making the delivery I arrived home and said to him just leave it by the front door 😂😂 both me and my partner were at work at the time of delivery and there would be no one at home. So I rung RM back today and told them they are talking rubbish and all they could say was I'd have to go back to the seller on eBay. I told them that they are not interested in helping as as far as they are concerned the parcel has been delivered. They told me to try again and give them the case number and if needs be they will have to make a claim. After a lot of back and forth the seller basically says tough titty not my problem and can I prove the item wasn't delivered 😂😂 because RM can prove it was.
So I got on the phone to RM again and they said there's nothing they can do because the seller has the proof of postage etc and can make a claim. I said they are not interested at all but just kept getting told I have to go back to the seller to make a claim. I asked them if they were to make a claim what would happen as you are saying the item has been delivered? and just kept getting told only the seller can make a claim.
So now I have no item and out of pocket, a seller who's attitude is tough not my problem and RM who are lying to me and telling me only the sender can do anything 😡

I have had this issue, sellers tracking confirming delivery but no item received.
Don't deal with any courier as it's the seller who has a contract with them
Just open a dispute with eBay, tell them what's happened, explain about the dodgy tracking and item not signed for.
If still no satisfaction call ebay direct and they will sort it out.
Don't get suckered into playing piggy in the middle.

Put in a claim against Royal mail, think there is an online form for lost of packages

I did open a dispute with eBay but they closed it when the seller asked because he's provided tracking that says delivered. I got eBay to ring me and asked why they closed it when I'm doing all the running around with RM who are still investigating this issue. They said they will give me a few more days for RM to finish their investigation and to provide me with a POND number that I have to upload. I said to them what if RM say the items been delivered and don't provide me with a POND number and they said there's nothing they can do without it as the POND number is what they need for them/seller to issue a refund
Just feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall and no one wants to help. As far as I'm concerned I've not received this item but because RM tracking says it was delivered I'm stuck. Even though RM are lying by saying I said leave it at the front door as I was arriving home when I and my partner were both at work.
It wasn't a lot of money £22 for a fox aquos bait bag belt thing. But it's the principle

Only the sender can do that as they have the proof of purchase etc. but they are not interested because the tracking says delivered so not their problem

Not by Royal Mail but purchased 125 litres of distilled water and after not receiving them on or before the given date I contacted the seller. Seller a little later on informed me that they had been lost in transit. 25 x 5 litre tubs just vanished.

Not true. I had the same happen a couple of years ago, got a message saying my parcel was left in my oorcht. I don't have a porch so raised with seller who said tough, started case with eBay, who said tough. Neither seemed to think the fact the courier said it was in my porch when I don't have a porch was of relevance. Didn't get a penny back, and as I'd opened a case couldn't even leave feedback. I was lucky in that about 3 weeks later a guy from another street knocked my door and gave me my parcel. They'd been away on holiday and just returned to find it in their porch.

How was it posted? If signed for delivery then RM will have to show you the postie recorded your name when delivered to you. If left elsewhere they need to put a form through your door to say where they left it.
If it wasn't sent by signed for or special delivery then it is the responsibility of the seller to prove delivery. RM does 'track' normal deliveries but it is not an exact science, just the general area of where 'delivered ' and this is NOT evidence of delivery to you.
Ask the seller these questions, with Ebay the onus is on the seller to prove delivery. It's then up to the seller to take the case up with RM.
Can you not use your phone tracking to prove that you weren't in that location when it was supposed to be delivered?

Was just sent normal tracked I believe. Don't think it was signed for or special delivery. What's annoyed me is that eBay closed the dispute because the tracking says it was delivered. I contacted the seller again today to ask him to get in touch with RM because they have the postage details etc but all they said was they contacted them when I first said it was missing and RM said it was delivered and can I prove it wasn't delivered because RM can prove it was delivered. I said to him that RM can't prove it was actually delivered because when he spoke to them they told him from the tracking it looks like it was “delivered in range of the address” and when I spoke to them they said the parcel was scanned near my house. Neither of these are proof the item was delivered.
The seller said we are going round in circles and as far as he's concerned the item is delivered so not his problem. RM are saying only the sender can make a claim so as it stands I've **** out. I've raised a dispute with PayPal but I'm not holding my breath because the seller/eBay will just say the tracking says delivered
Also RM saying they investigated it throughly and spoke to the delivery person and me or my partner were arriving home and told him to just leave it by the front door is a load of bollox because we were both at work and all they could say is the sender has to make a claim. Despite me telling them the sender isn't interested at all. Said to them what would happen if they did want to be helpful and start a claim because you are saying it's been delivered so would just refuse the claim. Couldn't really give me an answer and just said I have to go back to the seller

You will find Ebay worse than useless in this instance.
They will go on the info stating it was delivered...matterless to them that it wasn't.
If you paid via paypal...you will find them no better, see above.
As for the RM...one got a better service when mail/parcels were delivered by a coach and four with a man atop holding a blunderbus !
I purchased a new pump on Ebay that the seller then drop shipped via Amazon using a poxy little courier company
The item was deemed delivered as the tracking listed the postcode.
I attempted to explain to the hard of thinking at both Ebay and Paypal that a postcode covered a WHOLE street or area not an individual property.
I eventually got my money back by ordering items from Ebay using a pay in 30 days scheme.
I immediately then stopped payment to Paypal/Ebay and closed the account.
AFAIK they are still "whistling" for it.
Good luck !

Difficult one Boo and to be honest there are so many scams from buyers saying they haven't received items or the box turned up empty or the item was broken, (they simply replace their broken one for yours) that if I was the seller I would probably say the same if I am honest. Posted in good faith and RM say it has been delivered, buyer only has your word that it hasn't to be fair.
Yes you can ask the buyer to submit a claim to RM but that would be a complete waste of time as RM say it was delivered.
You will get zero help from eBay and zero help from PayPal. As far as they are concerned the matter is closed as there is "proof" of delivery....
I would be off down my local Sorting Office asking to speak to the Manager and telling him the Postie is a lying scumbag. I would then raise a formal complaint to RM customer services.
Good luck mate although i fear you may have to write this one off and just be thankful it wasn't a more expensive item.

I've already written this off and bought a replacement but I'll be continuing with my complaint to RM because there is no way I said to the delivery driver to just leave it by the door. Plus the fact I just so happened to be returning how at the exact moment he was attempting to deliver the parcel
I have no doubt the seller posted the item and I do agree that as far as they are concerned it's been delivered. But what's annoying me is they won't help me. I can't do anything because I don't have the proof of postage etc and was told to get the seller to make a claim or whatever but all they are saying is we did contact them at the beginning and they said it's delivered so what do you expect me to be able to do. Clearly not listening to me telling them they need to get in touch again as they have all the details
Like banging my head against a brick wall

We send 1000's & 1000's of parcels a year with RM mate, all first class signed for. I feel your pain. As has been mentioned already, your best and only course of action is to visit your local sorting office and speak to the manager. Tell him what has happened, and hopefully he can help you.
I have to write off lots of stuff that goes missing. I do not even bother trying to get a refund from RM, as it takes more time to do, than it is worth it for my time. Since Covid things have got even worse, as a physical signature was not required anymore.
People often ask why we don't put a return address on our parcels... Because there are so many angling postman... Marking the parcel was the quick road to losing far more parcels we found right from the start. The moment we stopped marking the parcels, our losses dropped massively so. A sad fact really but every courier company including RM has thieves working for them. But for our needs, RM are still the best IMO. If you want to guarantee something will arrive, special next day delivery is the only way.
It's not always the delivery people though... I purchased a Daiwa Amourphous Tommy Pickering Roach rod in mint condition. Tracking indicated that the item was delivered... We were at the address on the day in question and nothing came. Normally I would have let it go, but I really wanted the rod so went into overdrive to find out where my rod had gone. I was convinced the RM driver had nicked it, but I was wrong. By speaking to the local sorting office, I was able to eventually find out that one of my neighbours had intercepted the driver before he got to my door, and made out he was me and took delivery of said rod. Between me and a couple of other neighbours, we worked out this tramp had taken multiple parcels from us all, pulling the same stunt. I got my rod back and the bloke no longer lives there.
Speak to your local sorting office if you really want to resolve and kick up a fuss mate.

I've just had an item delivered that i ordered from Future Fishing, not Recorded Delivery but just tracked so no signature needed but it will confirm the item has been delivered.
the wife answered the door, they scanned it, gave it to here and photographed her hands holding it....I believe this is common practice now for RM. Therefore ask RM for their proof that it was left on your doorstep, because they should have photographed it!

Same thing in reality Joss...4 main services from RM these days;
1st/2nd standard - not tracked, not signed for
1st/2nd tracked - not signed for but "proof" of delivery after the event
1st/2nd signed for - same as the old recorded delivery, signature required.
Special Delivery - guaranteed next day, signed for, insured up to £500 (higher amounts available)
if in doubt send by Special, the Postie would not risk nicking those!

Mark this has already cost me more in time and effort being on the phone to RM, eBay dispute, PayPal dispute etc. PayPal have been in touch and basically said eBay have provided the tracking info so I'm not expecting anything from that now
I've got onto Royal Mail again and lodged a complaint because the delivery person is 100% lying saying I said to leave the parcel by the front door.
I'm not holding my breath for any type of outcome but I'll keep trying. The seller I've given up on as they just keep saying RM have 100% proof of delivery and I can't prove it wasn't delivered. I said to them that the item being scanned is not 100% proof of delivery and that is it not even remotely possible that the driver could of scanned a load of parcels on my road at same time and either delivered it elsewhere or even left it in the van or worst case stole it and they were saying no there is no chance of this happening because the tracking says delivered

No photo or anything. Have escalated the issue but all I keep getting back is the same copy and pasted email saying they can't add anything to what's already been said and if I'm not happy with this decision then email this email address, which is the same email address, so I done that and just got exactly the same email back
Just got to lick my wounds on this one but if I see the delivery driver I'll be telling him he's a lying c@nt

I might be missing something here, but why does your address give away what you sell? Just put an address and postcode.

Because if the return address is fishing related ( solar tackle/nash ) etc then the delivery person knows it's fishing related

I think what Rob means is if you just put the address on the return label rather than the name of the company, then how would the postman know what's inside. Obviously if you put the company name on the label then there's a chance the postman would know what's in there

This. Plus I was a postie for 22 years and other companies don't seem to have the issue of loads of parcels going missing. Yeah there are loads of postie fisherman, but there are also loads of postie gamers, antiques collectors, cyclists, etc etc etc.
No return address is one of the main reasons why items go ‘missing' - the most common reasons are misdelivery, wrong address on the item, unreadable address (which if there's no return address means it goes to Belfast, is opened and destroyed if no return address found).
Theft is way, way down the list and I'm not going to argue with anyone about it. Yeah it happens but it's not common in the least.

The answer is parcel theft is on the increase from all companies, including Royal Mail.
It should actually be impossible for a parcel to have no return address. I know when I have booked parcels online with whoever, a few companies, a return address is required, and when I have taken it into the Post Office they add a return address if I haven't put it on.
The 'non-contact' or signing off parcel delivery has made it easier for parcels to go missing. Take a photo next to the door, any door can be used for some places, blocks of flats, council houses that are similar.
I have had items go missing supposedly delivered to me for various reasons:
On collection from tackle company with correct address on invoice and delivery note, carrier label had changed number 6 for a 9, so parcel was delivered to house up the road while householder was on holiday.
Supposedly I was out, and received a text from the carrier saying 'your parcel has been delivered'. I was in all day, purposely waiting for parcel delivery. Contacting carrier did find a few parcels going walkies to the driver.
Some carriers do not leave 'sorry we missed you' cards, or just shove them through the door without waiting.
I enjoy these as my 'close' off the main road has CCTV in a number of the flats, various Ring doorbells and we all get on, so we just zip the footage over.
The best one i know of actually was a crooked Royal Mail postie. He was caught removing official post, and in the householders name applying for credit cards, ordering goods etc, knowing he would deliver them. Identity theft on a big scale. A number of people were called upon by bailiffs for credit card companies etc.
He was eventually jailed.
