After a cheap boilie for heavy prebaiting a new water would use particle but to many bream. Any ideas on a boilie 4-5 per kg or cheaper?

Tbh at the price you'll be better of either buying over runs from someone like premier baits or making your own at a sensible price. Most of what you'll be buying imo will be cheap rubbish at that price

Mirage do a box of random overruns - £35 for 10kg. Marcus roils an awful lot of bait for a lot of people!

If you are just using them for pre baiting then you could knock out your own mix on cheap tables and not be too worried about perfect roundness. So you wouldn't need investment in machines etc. For that price you could actually bait up with a decent home made bait.

£3.50/kg rolled, I know I could put a bait together for that, but don't know if I could be arsed to roll and cook it!

Agreed, rather than looking for a very cheap bait, wouldn't even bother rolling, just boil the sausages and cut up when needed.

Find a guy that can roll you some bait.
A simple fishmeal-birdfood mix should cost you more than £4/kilo bait.
1kg mix is good for 1.3kg bait.

So its mostly the smaller firms that can offer bespoke mixes now, lets say on the larger end of that with aome automation a firm can produce 150kg a day.
say its a nine hour work day
call utilities for the day 50 quid
call rent and rate on a small unit 1500 a month or 50 a day
That 150 kg needs to include a production cost of £0.67 pence per kilo prior to profit.
I'll price this in the bracket in which people of that size buy, usually they dont have sotrage so tonnes of ingredient isn't possible. trade sack prices then. - hypothetical very very cheap mix - kilo price for the bait...
35% sardine & Anchovy (trade sack price £45-£53 / 25kg) £0.70
20% CLO (trade sack price £39 / 20kg) £0.39
10% Soy Meal ( trade sack price £25 / 25kg) £0.10
10% Maize Flour ( trade sack price £20 / 25kg) £0.08
15% Semolina ( trade sack price £24 / 25kg ) £0.15
10% Bread Crumb ( trade sack price £15 / 20kg ) £0.08
- £1.50 per kilo for the base
eggs, if using extremely cheap mixed size cage seconds, a quid a tray of 30, 8 on average for a kilo of finished bait so 27p
about 700g basemix in a kilo of bait so £1.05 basemix
10 pence for a poly bag per 2.5kg of boilies is 4pence per kilo
Shipping cost of ingredient to supplier would be around 50 quid a pallet but ill not include that.
£1.05
£0.27
£0.67
£0.04
£2.03 prior to adding a wage cost ( seperate to business profit unless you mean a guy in aa shed doing it in which case the ingredient prices increase anyhow )
lets say someone needs to earn £150 a day, that is a quid a kilo wage cost bring the bait to £3.03 per kilo prior to shipping which for a smaller firm is basically around a quid per kilo unless sending 60+ packages a week to get on a better tariff.
I'm not saying £4 / a kilo for bait isn't possible but you really do not have room for movement especially as cheaper filler ingredients are going to soar towards the end of the year as well.
I'm not saying these costs apply to everyone either, I've also not factored in the basemix blending etc
for someone in a shed I reckon that bait cost easily passes 4 quid before selling it to you personally and thats as basic abd fish / bird mixes get

I was told that all major baits on the market don't cost more than £2.50/kg for the ingredients. Production costs and distribution obviously push that up. If you want good bait find a good source local and collect it. That's the best you can do.

I'd be gob smacked if any of the major baits cost £2.50 kg for the ingredients. I know what the cost price of one very big bait is delivered, and factoring in production, wages, shipping etc then there's no way it's 2.50 raw.

Some baits are made very cheap with filler by big companies, others are not.
Cost ids a very subjective thing, I know someone who sells bait pretty cheap but makes tonnes of it a day os can keep the margin small, as well as that investing in efficient production to bring costs down etc
That bait I post isnt hugely far from one companies fishmeal, you just swap S & A for provimi, reduce it to ten percent max, massively increase the bread crumb and add paprika. reduce the birdfood to a small bucket of seeds per 500kg of basemix

I hope your not paying some of those prices mozzi. I get micronised maize at £12/25kg, birdfood around £24/20kg and soya around £18/25kg and that's not trade price

In terms of a cheap boilie, I was reminded of an old skool bait ages ago. Cat biscuits, micronised maize and semo. A bit of salmon oil, msg and fish flavour and away you go. Very very cheap at around £1/kg rolled and by all accounts catches everywhere.

They were very effective Lincs, I used pretty much that bait but with a bit of bird food added, why would it not work?
The carp loved it and ate it over & over and put weight on. We made the bait and used it before freezing which is a factor I think.
Trouble nowadays with so much media anglers are bombarded with information about bait this bait that, no different to adverts on tv. Best thing is find out for ourselves then we know.

Yep the 'find out yourself' mentality seems to have been lost/diluted over the last 10 or so years.
With limited time on the bank, anglers quite often now don't want to 'try it and see', they want a bait they can rely on a hopefully catch on straight away.
What about nutritionally for the fish? Would these Decathlon baits be any 'good' for fish?

Got the ingredients up, cheap ingredients but that don't mean not good, nutritionally probably missing stuff, but with a good label, your catch, would I use, no, but what do I know, I should just say what I require from a bait , to catch the bigger fish to not blow, and do them good, and whant them to want it,

You won't go wrong using Marcus's, bulk over run boxes ,as already mentioned, I have caught very, very well on various mixes ,flavours and sizes..
My lovely wife picks it up ,or I get it next day..
You won't go wrong ,in fact I need to get some more!

Those are big standard trade prices avaliable for a wide variety of small businesses. I've not included prices where, for example one shop might be 3 quid cheaper on a bag of fishmeal than BAF for example as courier charges take that above tge original price

Blimey, those prices down your way are inflated!! Gladwells who iirc are part of copdock mill are vastly cheaper at retail. I did enquire on behalf of my club and they quoted another % discount..Ask your mate at mad baits, I'm pretty sure he gets his cereals from them.

The Decathlon bait is cheap, it's not going to have the nutritional profile of a £9/£10 kg boilie or even some of the cheaper ones, but by god they are effective and if value for money is what is required then you won't go far wrong with a budget boilie like that which has sold well for years all over Europe.

You're getting en egg bird food for 24 per 20 kg?
You're right I got my prices wrong on the micronised soya it's a lot cheaper. I don't buy many cereals and don't get the micronised ones in unless making coarse ground baits, wouldn't mind another order of those actually did a quarter of a tonne not a single egg or gas bottle in sight lol

Cat biscuits are not crap. A bait built thoughtfully around cat biscuits would be a good bait. Just chucking a few ingredients together is not a thoughtfully put together bait.

I did a better version based around a liver/cat biscuit theme with a more balanced aa profile with the addition of FM and whey plus the liver powder and hydro. I caught well on it but tbh results have been very similar on the more economical mix.
