I've had the ridgemonkey headtorch for a season now and it has its positives...great lasting charge,good illumination power and very easy to use.However for me the positives are outweighed by the negatives...WAY too heavy and most of all no cushioning on the strap.Im actually fishing ATM and my head is hurting just wearing it for about half an hour.
Can anybody suggest an alternative that has good illumination and non battery charge,that is much lighter? Thanks in advance.

Petzl Tikka or current derivative, best all round head torches I've used. Mine has lasted about 5 seasons so far and no signs of wear at all 👌

I know you said about rechargeable and I was very much against them thinking if my head torch just died and it needed charging as opposed to just bunging in a new battery I would be up the creek

but in the end due to reading rave reviews on back packing forums about this super light weight fully featured headtorch that was so simple to operate I weaken and bought The Nitecore NU25 headlamp
And trust me I have owned and used headtorches from ALL the top makes the list is too long to put on here
NOW ! the important bit It will last a weekend no problem but during the day when your not using it bung it on a mob phone power pack for a couple of hours if your worried you will never run out I never have and and never bothered to do it

its so light I sleep with mine on I could never ever in a million years use a RM heavy monstrosity !


there is a cheaper copy
but some people reported poor battery life but it may have been sorted now ? plus side its got a green light option too !

Old geezer thanks for that.Having read your other posts for a while now, I have full faith in your judgement, I just ordered the original you recommended.Half the price of the RM aswell.Bonus!

dont forget to come back on here and give an honest review once you have used it

I've also got the Nitecore - bought following recommendations here. I've never actually used it fishing because I have an ancient cheapo energiser one that refuses to die but used it throughout winter for evening dog walks.
Whilst I can't really comment on battery life as tended to leave it on charge and only use it for short periods it is light and comfortable, appear well made and good value.

I bought the nitecore off the back of recommendations on here, best headtorch I've ever owned. It lives in my glove box until I go fishing. Plenty bright enough and lasts for a long time. I've given one to my dad too he was shocked at how good it was for such a small item.

Echo what's been said. Petzel Tikka, last for YEARS and a good battery life. If it's good enough for cavers it's good enough for me

I have a rechargeable one for work which I bought, very bright but remembering to charge it is a pain. Petzel, the battery's will last a season easily but I purposely change them every year, carry a couple of spares otherwise, job done, never without light

I bought a Nitecore NU25 on Gerrys recommendation - best all round headtorch for carping (better than all previous petzls /energizers that I still own)

Light / bright / comfy and rechargeable

My Lenser tops it for superannoyingcasttothefarbank spotlight brightness - but then its got a super annoying battery pack on the back so is unwearable whilst dozing and a bit bulky

I have the sunblessa H11 which is the nitecore copy, I've had no problem with it, but I do put it on charge in the morning after using in the night but I've never run out of power.

Another shout for the nitecore - bought after seeing on here and is a great bit of kit. Worth the money for the amount of use you get out of one charge

UPDATE !! for anyone interested
A MATE just told me he has the NU25 and his son has the Sunblessa he reckons the battery life is as good as the NU25 so the issue must be sorted now think he said its 200 hours
