Anyone on here have an sp c tech?
Brought one the other week after reading rave reviews about them for months, and massively disappointed in the sleep system itself.
1 it's huge. I know they are all pretty bulky but the foam style sleeping bag is colossal compared to some others.
2 the sleeping bag itself is made of some soft of semi rigid foam style material and as such just isn't comfortable to use. Unlike a soft fabric one like all others I've ever used or had previously, you can't just tuck this one under your chin or arm etc without creating a massive gap for air to come in, otherwise it's fully over your head. No flexibility to it.
3 the thermal cover seems to be an extremely thin, almost delicate fabric.
When i got too hot I ended up unclipping the thermal cover, and then having half body covered with the sleeping bag and too half by thermal cover.
This worked OK until I got even warmer this morning, so slept on top of the bag but under the cover which worked OK, but due to the cover being held by toggles and not zipped in you get a massive draft being let in in between the gaps!
4 it's too hot! There's only 1 layer and a very thin thermal cover. It was maybe down to 7 degrees last night, slept in light clothes but was absolutely roasting all night. Removing thermal cover did nothing, it's not an adjustable system.
Gutted if honest, spent months looking at all the different systems, unfortunately nowhere even vaguely close to me stocks them to go and look, so brought online. It's a huge cost to outlay for something that just doesn't work for me.
Now stuck with a sleep system ill likely never use, can't return, and I presume wouldn't be worth selling as who wants a used ( all be it 2 nights) sleep system?
Not sure what my options are, or how others have found it?

I agree that its too hot, but not found issues with size or the bag material being too stiff.
I suggested a 1-3 season bag to solat on instagram and they said they would look i to it. No idea if they will actually bother though

The whole thing or just the sleep system?
The bed itself seems good, I did wonder if the standard sp c tech beds come with the velcro strips to take the sleep system? I could then get just to sell that part.

The bed itself is superb but i personally hate sleep systems. I use my wide c tec with a gardner plus duvet bag and its a superb combination. You dont need to spend £240 on a bag.

You know of any other layered sleeping bags ? I love the idea of having a layer or 2 that I can remove but ideally don't want to be paying Fortis £240 for one.
I will 80% + of the time just use a thermal cover anyway !

Why not get a cheap summer bag and keep the too warm solar for the winter.
I've just ordered a Snugpak Navigator bag, still waiting for it to arrive. Snugpak give it comfort temperature rating of -2C, which I'm sure will be very optimistic. But coupled with a Gardner cover it should do me for summer and autumn. I don't night fish in sub zero temperatures any more, but still have my big bag should I need it. The Snugpak's only 800mm wide, about the same as my bed so should be a lot more manageable, and for under £40 thought it was worth a punt.

I'm not a fan of sleep systems myself much prefer bed and bag combo
I have the sp c tech both standard and wide version and think they are excellent and use a fortis bag and or a Cotswold Aquarius cover with clip in fleece for over nighters and have all bases covered

The gardner bag has a removable inner bag and its only around £110. Its a great bag for the money.

Only Gardner bag I can find with removable inner is the duvet compact and plus, sold out in a lot of places and £180 for compact in those with it in stock.

Yeh I had a look and found one but 180 notes.
I may just be better off with a 3 season bag as I don't carp fish through the winter anyway

No straps, but I don't want them. I prefer to be able to wrap the bag around me if necessary, and adding straps and calling it the carp Navigator but probably at least double the price!

I bought one "Wide version" last month and yes I agree its too hot
but coming from a Trakker big snooze being really cold on winter this is a totally different league 
The Bed is huge and amazing to sleep on! compared to my other one, if the bag is too hot without the cover for the next few months ill just use the big snooze on this bed if it works

Yeh as spod says I've used it twice, it's also been on a barrow so possibly marked up already.
It will probably cost me what I lose selling the sleep system to send it back!

I've been looking at the big snooze today as an alternative.
I fish for other species all winter so all I need a bag for is spring and autumn, summer I just use a thermal cover if anything.
Big snooze would be fine for this presumably? I have a decent thermal cover if needed.
Does it have restraining straps / hoods to go over feet and head end?

Does anyone know if they've changed the material, as mine doesn't behave anything like you've described, it's definitely not rigid and I don't recall it being filled with foam.
?? Hope they haven't dicked about with it because it's about the only bed I've ever bought that I actually like.

It's like a semi stiff synthetic material, and it seems like it's either over your whole face / head, or if you tuck it under an arm for instance then that creates a big gap where the zip is which let's air in!
I think the baffle is a big part of it, that's definitely got foam in and is really thick, maybe it will all loosen or free up with some use but it's too hot anyway so I can use it 😕

Yes its the duvet plus i have which has the removable inner. Bloody hell is that how much they are now? I only paid £110 for mine from total fishing tackle when I got it. I wouldnt be paying £180 for one there good but not that good. There £195 at total fishing tackle now. Prices have gone daft since covid.

Had the same problem with the bag being too hot. Replaced it with the Fortis bag and honestly never looked back, the best combination I have found.

I too don't like sleep systems but I purchased the Nash SS4 a couple of years back because it was the most comfortable bed i tested......still got it now and love it.
However, I couldn't be doing with the sleep system cover, made me feel claustrophobic, so I took it off and just use my Fortis bag that I have had for about 5 years, that and the SS4 bed are a fantastic combo. I sold the sleep system cover on E-Bay for £125....

I've got the bed, not the sleep system. Instead I went for a Big Snooze + the Gardner cover. Perfect combo for me. I've had to get a SIM so I can sleep on my side and just makes it a bit more comfortable. Without it, I found it's too firm.
The bed is massive in wide. Bigger than most wide beds, or at least bigger than my pals beds. Takes up half my XD bivvy which is fairly colossal in size to start with.
Overall I'm still happy with it and glad I didn't get the sleep system.
