I am buying a pair of expensive Harrison 12ft rods 40mm but rings
that I want to carry made up and I want GOOD protection 2 or 3 rod

my other rods I have in Korum total protection hard cases but want something different
on paper the Trakker NXG 2-Rod Padded Sleeve 12ft looks good but not seen one in the flesh so any owners care to comment and any other suggestions please ?

I'm a fussy so n so ,when it comes to looking after gear..

I rate the Nash double rod skin,or sleeve,I use the NGT ,tip and butt protection, had it a long time,no issues with zips or anything at all..

It comes with a detachable strap if you want to hand carry..

I find it a good bit of kit,and it gets used a lot

Oh,yes,nearly forgot,I chose it specifically as its a reel FIRST holdall,rod first entry sleeves ,especially with multiple rods in reels I would not buy..

Nash 12ft double rod skin is decent that's what I used when I used to use 12ft rods

Had never considered korda for luggage but as per the 13ft thread I bought the 12ft three rod version of this and very impressed.

I have the trakker nxg 3-rod sleeve and it gives good protection . So much so that having changed my rods to 12'6 I have just bought the 13' version . Not too big and heavy whilst giving decent protection .

but leaning towards the Korda Compac Holdall 12ft holdall at the moment and of course be looking for the Easter discount codes lol

Have had a few over the years; now using this Aqua one in the link below and think it'll be a keeper - it's very durable and protection is excellent. Tips and butts protected via velcro pockets at each end and reels fit nicely. Have a look at one if you get a chance.

I have gone with the Korda Compac Holdall 12ft 2 Rod holdall

I have a couple of sets of NXGs and use them with rod tip covers and trakkers reel seat pouches along with Neoprene Velcro straps top n bottom. Out of the seven one has a poorly sone butt end which it's a bit of a pain. The neoprene rod straps get caught in the bottom and are a pain to extract on occasion overall they do a decent job. Having said that I have a pair of fishrite sleeves and the zip is on the other side ( rather than the underneath the reel it runs the length of the butt past the reel handle and ends and runs long the top of the blank. These are much better than the NXGs by a country mile superb slid the front end in and zip up the NXGs in comparison are ok.'all cost loads and won't change them as they cost a small fortune and do the job. That aside I'd get a similar type to the Fishrite all day long given the chance.

When a rod and reel costs the best part of £600 then a rod sleeve and accessories is worthwhile.

That they did. The rod sleeves are superb, I have a pair of 13' sleeves and they are so much easier to use then the Trakker design. Sadly I've not found any that are made in a similar fashion which is frustrating.

I was only thinking yesterday they all need to make room for tip butt protectors I have a ta quiver and I have to squeeze the butts in bottom and when I take a rod out 9 out of 10 I have to pull it out leaving the butt protector in the quiver good gear but considering they sell them I thought it would have been tested
The korda gear is expensive and The colour is a bit odd

Ive only owned a couple of bits of korda luggage which where the compac pouches and all the zips broke within a couple of months so put me buying anything else and agree about the colour its awful.

Personally its dpm for me but a lot of people hate that as well so all down to personal preference at the end of the day.

I have the 13ft 5 rod Korda and I have been pleased with it . I would be tight with 5 rods, I put 4 in the main bit and one a sleeve on the side. This suits me though, as I often have a flick around with a marker rod before unpacking the barrow, so keep this in an ESP sleeve clipped on the side.

Material is good, zips are good, handles are good. Don't care about the colour.

I looked at the Korda when it first came out thought it was thin and cheep looking at the end of the day you can't beat speero for quality and price the only criticism I have there luggage all seems to be on the big side suited for the session angler why they don't do a 2 rod sleeve I don't know

OK mate, 'reel first' is when the reel enters the sleeve/holdall first ,the butt eyes ,rod eyes will therefore be facing downwards..and the zip of the sleeve uppermost,facing you..

Some sleeves,are rod entry first,meaning the reel now has to lay semi flat,resting on the reel divider and the reel is now upper most facing you....when further rods and reels are added only then is the holdall rigid,and reels are separated by a padded ,flap..

A very very poor design in my humble opinion Barry,I have had one ,got rid straight away not enough reel protection or rigidity around the reels or rods.

The Nash double sleeve is available in 12 and 10 ft,plus the single sleeve,which is also ,'reel first',clips on to the double sleeve for another rod,or heavens above a 'splashy noise maker ,bomb ,spomb rod'..lol

I got it ,as said above,plus I'm always 2+1,or venue diktat,just 2 rods,minimal as you like mate..

The reason I started this thread
was I have just treated myself to a PAIR of very expensive Harrison rods and I wanted something to give them reasonable protection but not be too bulky or heavy
after studying all the specs of the suggestions and speaking to owners of some of them
the winner was a Korda Compac 2-rod, 12 ft – dimensions: 200cm x 25cm x 13cm. seemed to tick all the boxes with right amounts of padding
and with a heavy duty zip giving quick access to your rods, whilst landing nets, banksticks and similar are stored in three external pockets along the spine of the holdall. Two additional rods – perfect for a marker rod and a spod rod – can also be stored externally if you wanted

And the Aqua has the zip on the top, bottom and side, it opens like a book.....

So I don't think all "reel first" designs are necessarily flawed.

I've got speero separate adjustable sleeves for my 13ft rods and 3 rod compac for 12ft's, early days and the first korda luggage I've had but zips will go on any luggage if stressed so I've learnt not to force stuff in.

Quick update my Korda Compac Holdall 12ft 2 Rod holdall arrived today

and I am over the moon with it its total perfect exactly the quality I was hoping for and all the features pockets etc make it ideal

Is there plenty of room at the butt eye end of the holdall? I've got a speero holdall and it's quite a snug fit for a 50mm butt ring rod, as well as containing the rods. Tia
