not if you want to rip your finger nails off every time you open it, fox do one with a drop in inner section as do trakker

I've got the ridgemonkey one. I don't think it's to bad, but then again it is only a bucket.
I've got a Dynamite Baits bucket with tray...cost a tenner and fitted with the Cygnet leg adaptors mentioned in another thread. The lid is easy to fit and remove, the handle is adequate for a bucket...the makers logo is superfluous !
Fox do them, I have a couple of them, good quality as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've had a play and to be honest none floated my boat.
I planned on the lad using it for his floats, disgorger etc. in the tray and bait underneath. None are ideal for a youngster
A Shakespeare or Daiwa seat box is probably the way to go but I'll end up carrying the bloody thing.

If you go for the seat box. The octoplus adjustable legs are very good if you are fishing on uneven banks or are taller than average.

Those seat boxes last for ever. He won't get shorter LOL. You may even use it yourself. I was a match fisherman for years before I started carping seriously. Tackle box on an uneven or stony bank is just bloody annoying.

I seen these green seat boxes on Amazon for example,made by Roddarch,approx £20..
Some come with a harness like a rucksack or have external webbing to fit 'stuff on the outside..
Several versions,all look similar..with built-in ,trays and little storage boxes in the lids..
Ideal for a young chap..or someone going light

trakker one is decent. i use mine just as a tidy tray. keep it in my carryall. Put all the stuff i need to hand in it, much easier than digging bits all out everytime. Leads, pop ups, bait needle, headtorch etc

They're all handy for that for an adult.
I've seen the seat box you mentioned wandle, certainly easier on the pocket than the Shakespeare box I had as a kid with all the trays and cushion. Over £100 now!!
I think I'll probably get him a little rucksack or cool bag tbh. We'll be on the move a bit

Well,it only seems like yesterday,when I first took my son fishing aged about five..
We've had some great times together,so enjoy every moment together..you n your son..

They look pretty good actually, cheers mate.
I had an ideal little korum cool bag years ago that took a few maggot tubs at the bottom and a tackle box at the top, they don't do anything like it now sadly

I'd say the same for the RM. I have no issues with mine now though I did at the start. They're probably all the same anyway, just different branding.

Why not get a 17l trakker bucket and put it in an NXG bucket bag? Perfect little padded seat that can be carried and with a cuvette tray a removable mini tackle box? When he grows out of it you can inherit and use for stalking / poo bucket (as I do) etc

Trakker stopped making bucket bag a few years ago they turn up on eBay but there going for big money just don't understand why they stopped fox as well

I bought a 17 litre nash bucket and a fox inner tray for my mixed pellet and pva bag bits.
Slightly bigger than I currently use but I can leave a few hook bait tubs in there.
When trying to peel the price ticket off it some of the nano thin camo coating also peeled off leaving a big white scar which is a pain.
I went back to the shop to show them and they were happy to swap it.
Trouble is, all the nash buckets have the price ticket stuck onto the bucket in the same place, but they found me a fox bucket as a replacement.
The Nash camo does look great, but now I have a fox bucket, nash lid and a fox tray.

I had to sand down thew ridge of the fox one so I dont scare carp from 400 yards away when it finally pops open lol

I've found the Ridgemokey buckets the easiest to open, i had a Trakker one and it was so hard to open.

I agree with regards the Ridgemonkey buckets but you will hear a lot on here about not liking them due to 'losing nails' trying to open them. My RM bucket is a recent purchase so not sure if they have changed at all?

I found it hard to justify £20 for a bucket when i get plenty for free at work but the internal trays are a good send on day sessions.

I've never had an issue with ridgemonkey ones it's always the fox/nash/spomb/trakker 17 litre jobby, all the same bucket just printed differently think avid brought it out first.
I have to use a knife and sand paper to “tune” the catchment lip as It's soooo poor.
Used the same bit of 240 to scuff the plastic for some camfleck tape mind 🤣🤣🤣

I can confirm at least the lids on the RM compact 7.5ltr bucket with inner tray the lid comes off a doddle in comparison to the old RM buckets I binned off, I bought one for my floater & zig bits bucket last year as it was ideal for the job for me in fact I then bought another for my PVA bag fishing bits as they're ideal little grab and go storage systems for the above, a grab and go bucket with all the kit I need in them when the seasons or conditions dictate the type of fishing I will be doing.

That's the one I have Ian
I only use it for my PVA bag work also.
Only problem I have with it is that I struggle to get the lid to go on properly/tightly when I have the tray in, so currently don't have the tray in and everything is in the bucket. Will have to work that out as pointless buying a bucket with a tray if the tray is not in use !
