Alright all
I'm after a comfortable recliner chair for dozing in when I'm doing overnighters for Barbel. I'm missing out on fish currently as it's too easy to get settled in a warm bedchair and not fish hard through the night, so the idea is I'll just doze in a chair with a cover. And no, I'm not just sitting out in the cold all night cos that's not fun

Yes the solar ones spot on mate l'm waiting for a knee replacement so l sleep better in the chair and thinking with only doing one night at a time l might ditch the bedchair this season with struggling to get up quick from it and just take the chair just can't make my mind up about using a sleeping bag or just buy some sort of cover to use with it

Looks like the Solar then, cheers boys! One last question, any difference in comfort between the low or high version?
I'll be taking a bedchair cover in summer, then two when it's colder (one under me and one over). Will see how that goes.

I have the low not used high one but can extend all legs to make it taller you get a man bag very handy and a cushion fantastic chair got mine after recommended on here by lots of people solar are getting rave reviews on there chairs and bedchairs

Make sure you sit on one before you buy it. I was all set to buy the solar one when my trakker longback snapped. I really didnt find the solar chair comfortable at all. The back is really low as well so i ended up with another trakker chair. No doubt it will break too but they are very comfortable

The low is not overly low and as said the legs extend . For me the low is a very comfortable height. I'm guessing that for anyone with health issues maybe the high might be better. Whichever height you choose it is an extremely comfortable well made chair. Also having had plenty of different chairs I find having arms on it makes it so much more comfortable 👍

Why not look at something like a garden reclining chair offers a bit more length so elevates your legs/feet off the ground, I know if I'm sat reclined in a carp chair for any length of time my legs start to go to sleep or I get pins and needles in my feet when they're planted on the floor, they're easy to bolt back upright and some of them are decent, one I've got at home I can kip in for hours I know that's not the aim but might aswell have some comfort.

I didnt find the base too low, just the back rest. Im fairly tall which probably doesn't help

You could go the whole hog and take a striped deck chair and put a knotted cotton hanky on your head!
In all seriousness the garden recliner is a good shout, even the ones with the big padded cushions on would be lighter than a bed chair to load up.
If I try and stay awake sat in a comfy chair I have no chance, but if I'm trying to get some sleep on purpose my head just wants to be flat. I'm sure you can get used to it though.

Solar sp for me as well best chair ive owned a long with there sp bedchair, nothing else comes close imo.
Garden recliners chairs wont be any good on the river banks as 90% of them are on a slope and you need the have the front legs a lot longer than the rear
a question for the Solar chair owners !
someone told me the fault with them is they seem to get wet and stay wet very easily far more than most chairs ?

when I fish on the rivers I fish on my rods under a small brolly on a chair casting every 40mins or so then reel in in the morning and sleep in my bivvy all day its not how I used to carp fish at all

Might be a bit late if you have chosen, but I ended up getting a Sonik Sks Recliner for pike fishing and as a chair when I'm carp fishing or day trips.

Perhaps he can decide that as he would know what the banks are like where he's fishing just an option that might suit him.

Ive never really got mine wet but i can see what people mean as the padding has a mesh to it so the water will seep through the holes making it much harder to dry out but im always under a brolly if its raining so not really an issue for me. I wouldnt say it was a fault though as thats what makes them more comfy and you dont get a sweaty arse in the summer.

Don't forget I'll be coming up for a social at some point Gerry, you Rob and Stuart, I'll bring the rib eyes if you guys do the jacket spuds with cheese but you'll have to bring the bbq to cook on.

Thanks all. I haven't bought anything yet, don't need it until the start of next season so will keep an eye out for a bargain. Will look at and try and test out the Solar, Trakker longback and Sonik (I've got a bit of Sonik gear and it's well made).
As Gerry said, I do fish uneven banks so a proper adjustable chair is a must.

Definitely, haven't done a CF social since France 2005!
Some of my fish from a 20 hour session on the Tidal Mon-Tues this week. Soaking wet, muddy, had to use a rope and spike to get up and down to the water safely but well worth it. Barbel to 12lb and a PB 6.6 Chub. The Trent really is a special place though it's not always that easy. Was interesting as I used a few tips from the recent Frank Warwick Nash podcast and it really seemed to work well.

Just back from a day on my solar chair and its the most comfortable chair I've ever had definitely. I bought mine last summer and its relatively lightweight too compared to some. Not sure why it's so comfortable it just is! Love the easy arm recline too.

This was from a few years ago (2017) but I only had two bites in that 48 hour session 1 night and 1 in the day on the middle Trent a PB Barbel 14LB.6oz and a PB Chub 6lb.4 ozs (GOLLY GOSH I WAS 17 STONE THEN !)

Nice dog chub them, my best was a longtime ago on the Wye pre-baited for the week leading up to the season start and had god knows how many chub between 3 to just over 6lb.
Generally I'm fishing for the carp on the Wye when I do but not so much these days but in a way that I also pick up plenty of the barbel and chub nothing to have half a dozen of each in an evening raning between 2 to 5lb on the chuband then 2 to 9lb on the barbel double figure barbel on the Wye are not so common although they are about upto around 14lb if your lucky enough.

Nice way to finish the season that's for sure! There have been bigger Chub from the stretch and 8lb fish are in the Trent, for me I'm happy with this one but a 7 would be amazing.
@Gerry, cracking fish those mate, the Trent has really got into my bones and I'm finding it hard to fish Carp lakes nowadays. It's the sense of unknown and definitely a bit of intimidation there, especially this time of year. You have to respect it.

Thats actually a great idea would be great for a social
but with my health problems I probably wont be fit enough for about 6 months providing my recovery continues so you Rob And Stuart could have one maybe Glenn ?

We can always do two socials, one in the summer then one when you're ready Would have to be a day ticket stretch though, Sutton does guest tickets but the guest also has to be a member of the Barbel society and I think it's limited to 2 per season. I can have a word with the fishery manager who I get on well with and see what can be done, though the BS are pretty strict with their rules.

Would need to book now for 2024 All the ‘guides' book it up years in advance, then charge people £200 a time to fish it with them when it's £10 a peg 
Collingham further down from the weir is definitely an option though as there's plenty of room, but it gets busy in summer.

I recently got a fox super deluxe it is brilliant chair and really comfortable best chair I've had but only use it for my longer sessions, I had the trakker recliner chair (not the older version) the new one is very good and never had any problems with it. Used it a lot and no damage at all

Ended up getting the Solar SP c-tech high version (took advantage of the free alarms offer and TFT didn't have the low). First impressions are it's plenty comfortable enough to doze in with feet up on a bucket. Just hope my head isn't too high for my brolly
