I'm needing some more gas for my stove. Been getting the colemans gas. 6 bottles which im shore I was paying just over £25. But now when going on amazon and ebay its showing for the same gas and amount of just over £33 does anyone no anywhere that is cheaper any info would be good

Using Cadac cannisters now. No difference but a fair bit cheaper. Some googling showed totallyhooked.co.uk sells 12 for 45, but perhaps they can be found even cheaper.

It's more expensive but if ever you're in a pinch Halfords always seem to have it in stock! It's Coleman too they've just changed the colour.

Be careful, there have been some issues with Coleman canisters not re-sealing properly. Some have also just not worked

I have found Coleman canisters are not the best.
CADAC and GoSystem gas are better.
Coleman do seem to suffer with low pressure when they are nearly empty.
I know it's not always the cheapest, but I do tend to get my canisters fron the local camping and caravan store.
£5.50 per canister works out at £33 for 6 so buying 6 at a time on the Internet is not always saving money

As above, first two coleman cannisters I've ever bought either leaked in the van, which stunk the van out for days, or they needed to be shook and laid sideways to maintain pressure.

I know that Old geezer says simply use them on their side or upside down, but I found even that didn't always improve the release of the final 'dregs', even with a Bulin. (Sorry Mate).
I found at times you did have to put around 5mm worth of water in a saucepan and heat it up a bit, then put the canister in the warmed water in the pan to increase the pressure inside to get the last out.
That's a call, although I haven't used the NGT gas, preferring to stick with the GoSystem.

Another decent cylinder make is Primus, again around £5.50 to £5.99 per can. I was given a couple of cans after I lent a couple to a mate

Primus is the best I've used. It works as normal right up untill the end, and empties completely.
Lemco is a close second, and then NGT, and Coleman are the worst. They seem to start playing up with 1/3rd the gas still left.

I'm now done with Coleman. Around Xmas I binned a stove because I thought it was knackered and damaging the valves, brand new Gravity III and they are doing exactly the same. I'll make do with what I have left and then it's Primus for me. May cost more but the Coleman is awful now😰

I've ordered the primus from funky leisure today
12x the large tins of gas for £67 so about the same as the Coleman
I too as below find that once 1/3 empty it gets hardly any pressure and have turned the tins on their side to get more out.
If the promis works better I shall be reverting over to them from now on

It's not just using them up Nick. Some people have been getting ill through leaking valves. 1 of mine decided to set alight at the valve and it ended up getting booted, lucky I was sat outside as it was only a day session. On the backpacking sites there is info regarding Coleman changing the valves to just suit their own brand. Have a look bud, it thought it was just me. Unfortunately over the last 6 months and a few instances since November it is becoming more common place😰

I've been smelling gas in my brew kit bag. Using Coleman gas. I used to leave the stove connected to the canister and put it down to this, I've started disconnecting them now and it seems to have stopped.
I've also had issues getting the last 20% out of the can. The pressure drops right off while there is seemingly plenty left. Appears they're sh*te.

Interestingly, I do find the Premus you have to screw your stove on outside. As they spray gas out when you screw on or off. It's as if the valve opens way earlier.
I find this quiet interesting and it may be solve an observation that I have made which I cannot explain. There is another thread running from earlier in February abot "Gas in Winter" or something on those lines.

As a rule though, I always disconnect a cannister after every usage in case I do get a leak and I am asleep. One of the things that bothers me is and I got a bit paranoid about it is, if you run your hand up your sleeping bag fast or rub a fleece fast, you get a load of blue sparks from static.
In my minds eye, all you need is a leaking cannister, get the right gas / air mixture, roll over in your sleeping bag or brush across your fleece whilst your asleep, and your bivvy could go up in a fireball.
When I googled it, I came across:-

Sounds more likely its under a higher pressure and that would also explain why all the gas comes out too

Personally I have not had this problem. I use a Primus stove and Coleman cylinders.

Had a bad batch early last year, seemed as if the stove wouldn't screw on quite enough to compress the pin fully. Yet the sunn gas bivvy heater worked fine. Switched to Go System gas.

I found all canisters give a quick squirt as you connect the stove to the canister. Primus definitely has more pressure compared to the rest.
I regularly do a simple check on whether the canister to stove connection leaks because I am paranoid about it, the possibility of gas explosion etc. Soapy water, or even spit over the O ring connection, if it bubbles, then you have a leak.
It can pay to keep a close eye on the O ring in case it perishes and leaks.
