Hi, does anybody have any experience of the above. Are they any good. Considering getting on over a Cobb can the smaller camping gas bottles be used?
I've got one that I use for camping. Don't take it fishing as it's a bit more than I need.

I own the safari chef 2 hp which uses the screw in gas cannisters. Use it for fishing they are awesome. Does everything you could ever want and more. Plus comes in a nice carry bag. Folded doesn't take up much space either.

The hp version you screw your gas cannister directly into the bottom of the unit.They are very good,I really like mine

I really rate my cadac hp2 my only grip is the griddle is a nightmare to clean properly on the bank compared to the usual wire racks of a bbq or flat plates of my cobb. For that reason, if I'm doing a night, I'll take the cadac as it doesn't matter about cleaning it too much as I can take it home.
I am very anal about trying to clean it off as much as possible before cooking on anything again though.

Clesn it whilst still hot. Just poor some water and kitchen towel it all comes off. When it's cold and hardened it takes some elbow grease 😂

Yeah i bought one and they dont lend themselves to being used and then left, i always felt like i needed to clean it asap they do pick up all the grease etc from cooking but its pretty wipe clean. I know what you mean though I hardly ever take it with me unless theres a few of us going but tbh i prefer using a BBQ. The missus likes it for camping though

Brilliant bit of kit, use mine a lot in the warmer months. And yes, get some grill mats and low fat burgers as normal ones leave a right mess of the grill etc.

Had mine for around 15 years or more and it is a great bit of kit that I have even managed to do a Roast Dinner of sorts on once along with a whole host of other meals.
The griddle plate is a ******* to clean on the bank however, a soak in biological washing powder when I get home overnight and it is good to go again after a week of abuse in France with minimal cleaning

Grill mats will save you a lot of cleaning. Cheap as chips on Amazon for a pack as well.

I bought some big rectangular ones and cut them to size,they really are better than trying to clean that plate

I got 2 of them
the HP and the LP version that I used to run on propane and use on winter trips great bits of kit very versatile
I do prefer the LP version even if it does mean carrying the gas bottle I know I can use it for everything including boiling the kettle without worrying about running out of gas got the pizza stone too love doing a hot steak and kidney pie or a pizza in the winter I used to pre cook a few large jacket potatoes wrap em in foil and reheat in the cadac with grated cheese the flat grill plate did the bacon and eggs etc

Will the Lp version work off a C500 Coleman cylinder ?
Wondering if I got one I could use it with that cylinder and then also use it with the caravan connecting it to the BBQ point on the caravan like I do with the bigger cadac we've had for years

Cheers, just been looking and seems to be possible both ways I was asking about. Hose I already have in caravan for the cadac we already have will hopefully fit the Safari

From what I remember, if you get an lp version you can get a twin adaptor to run it on 2 standard cans. I bought the hp version and was a bit disappointed there wasn't an adaptor to run it on bottles.

Yeah they is, seen it on Cadac website, they also do do a triple for them tall narrow canister's
