Hi guys New here and 1st post, Might be long but could do with someones help, i have done carp fishing years ago only up to 18lb, im looking to pursue the hobbie again as i Really do miss being on the Bank, i want a 3 rod set up and im starting from scratch i will be doing 48hr sessions 24Hrs the minimum, I dont want to spend a Ton of money but what rods and reels is good enough, Also a nice and comfy hedchair, Bivvy i have already got , net and cradle im not too fussed to be honest,l Ngt or something ? Without breaking the bank I would look at brands like sonik, and wychwood. You can get some really decent gear at good prices.

Having a set budget would help as a guideline. As for bed hair, do you want a system or bedchair & bag? A decent standalone bedchair for not too much money is wychwoods tactical bed, was recommended on here a while back. As for sleeping bags I use a fox ventec, it's absolutely massive but has done me well over the years I wouldn't buy it again though just because of size. Best to wait for others to chime in on that
Rods and reels, have a look on the classified section on here, some good deals on here most of the time. Better to get a decent second hand setup than a new alright setup in my opinion.

Have a butchers on facebook marketplace mate for second hand tackle. You'll get pretty much everything on there, and you'll get more bang for your buck buying second hand.
The other thing to do is have a look on the forum, use the search function. You'll find loads of threads and posts such as "best rods for £200" ur "best budget landing net".
Also, Black Friday coming up so you might drop on a bargain. Most bait companies offer reductions on BF, and some online tackle shops eg TFT.

Another tip - if you sort your ebay search by condition 'used' and 'nearest first' you will often find rods listed as collection only. These tend to attract less bids for obvious reasons.

I have just had a look and Great job theres rod set ups for like 300 and stuff i think im guna go down this route probably cheapper and better quality at end of the day, Cheers phil i Have been thinking alot about the Bite alarm situation as me being in Wales as we all Know Rain is always down here.

You'll still need to research what you're buying - be wary of buy it now items
Theres some bargains to be had but also some cr*p gear for sale at high prices.

Where in Wales are you based? Would suggest going into Garry Evans inf Newport area or Cardiff Angling to have a chat and a look. Alternatively go across the border to Bristol Angling Centre or dare I say it Angling Direct Bristol who have a bigger level of stock for you to look at and make an informed decision. 2nd hand can get you bargains but you do have to be careful and make sure you know what you are buying

Im in North wales i am Pal bit of a Way for me to go cardiff to be honest and bristol is also like 3 hours away is it a good place is it mate never been there

Sonik rods tend to be fairly good. Got a set of 10fts myself and love them, just steer clear of their reels.
Check out Chester tackle if you're North Wales, good group of lads in there and also tackle and baits in saltney. That depends if you're near the English border of course

Yeah im used to 10 ft rods thats what i use to use when i was fishing
Im not too far Mate there is 1 shop near me but the prices in stuff is just Unreal

Alarms I'd be tempted with the fox mini microns if just heads the basic are around 30 each or the mini micron x I've seen as cheap as 194 for 3 alarms and a receiver
As previous said might be better waiting till Black Friday to see if there are any decent sales about

The Sonik Xtractors may be worth a look if you like 10ft rods, can get them nice and cheap now and they have rave reviews on here. Couple them with some Okuma Inception reels and you're laughing. I'm still tempted with a set for smaller waters myself

What type of waters do you plan to fish? Shorter rods are fine on smaller lakes, but anything over 70 yards and you're making it hard on yourself.
For an all round set up I'd still be looking at a decent set of 12 foot 2.75 or 3lb TC rods. The Okuma 6000 reels everyone raves about will work fine on those too.

I dont Really fish big waters to he honest Mate but something to think about near Future like as im only starting back you see and 10ft rods do me well for what i will be using for but i ser where you coming from

I have a 12ft and a 10ft setup and this is exactly what my 10ft setup is made up off. Great reels and rods for the money and most if the time i end up using these iver my 12ft rods.
