Anyone ever compared cork and foam to see which is more buoyant? Foam is 6mm zig foam and cork is 6mm sticks.

Foam surely, as it's less dense.Never done a side by side comparison before, though I'd say foam was more floaty.

Foam will be more buoyant, it's manufactured to be so rather than a natural product. It's not as firm to roll a pop up on though. I'd also think that the amount of air it holds would cause issues during the boiling
Lots if different types of cork, lots of different types of foam.

Just bear in mind, if you are using foam for “corkball” pop ups, make sure it withstands heat, I've done it in the past rolled them, boiled them and and when dried they all sank as the foam had “disappeared” due to the heat etc

Its not for wrapping paste round. Its for drilling pop ups out and adding more buoyancy to them

I use Gardner 7mm zig foam and a 7mm brad point drill for my pop ups on chods, ronnies and hinged stiff rigs, and I have never had a pop up sink. Haven't used a cork ball pop up since I started doing this.

It is actually a serious point.
The density of cork varies from batch to batch, even where on the tree it has come from.
The pop-up foam may not be quite as buoyant as zig foam. Pop-up foam may need to be denser, stiffer to push into holes in a boilie.
On a technical note, foam is not as dense as cork, and is normally more buoyant.

I know there are differences in certain foams and types of cork, but stating the obvious and nothing more, is not what i call a helpful post. Seems to happening more and more on here.
Cheers, It is zig foam i have, seems fairly dense, but i managed to test it and its definitely more buoyant than the cork

I asked a question. Got a few conflicting answers, then figured out a way to actual test what i had, so did do, and shared the answers. Thought that was quite clear

My answer was helpful.
There are many different types of cork, there are many different types of foam. Even if purchasing a fishing based cork or foam product there will be discrepancies from batch to batch.
