LVP fishing portfolio up for 3 year leases, details on the Fenn Wright website...
Shame that locally run, reasonably priced fishing is being given up, but i guess there are books to balance.
3 year lease sounds pretty restrictive so i dont know what anyone would expect to achieve in that time....
What is the locals view of this ??

I can't see anyone taking on a water and putting much effort into it with only a three year lease.

You would be looking to spend v little, apart from the lease fee, certainly no stocking or major swim repairs. IF I'm correct in thinking there is full public access......even less appealing.

I would Imagine it is still leased to the current holders until next year
If you stock any fish in they retain title of those fish once lease expires aswell lol

those lakes are untouched gems.
the problem is - the public (some scumbags) and dog walkers can walk around them.
someone needs to turn those into private walled lakes.

Not much chance of fencing Nazeing Meads too many public footpaths through it.
Jamie Godson at Aquamaintain used to be the Lee Valley Fisheries Officer, but left around 4 or 5 years ago, so he knows what he is dealing with.

It's a public park fullstop so I doubt if any of them will/would be able to be fenced.
No chance of the North Met that's for sure and I agree regarding the Meads also. Not walked all of the lakes but the majority that I have over the years..no chance.

Thinking about The Meads, Central and South, the footpath goes all the way around and through apart from a short area by the sailing club.
When Lee Valley put a gate in on the sailing club driveway, it was removed by someone within 24 hours of the concrete on the posts setting; gate, posts and concrete!

What are the venues like to fish? Are they week long-session, campaign type waters or are any of them sensible options for someone who can only really be doing a couple of day sessions per month?
Currently either fish a couple of small and easy commercial day ticket waters, or the stow when I fancy something more challenging. Would be nice though to be a member of somewhere friendly that offered something between the two.

I fished Stock Pit a fair bit after it re-opened as a day ticket which was around 2010 if I recall correctly.
I always liked it as it wasn't as easy as Banjo Lake next door so was never busy. Very weedy and deep in parts, clear water and very dark fish to just over 30lb. No idea what the stock is like now, and obviously since this was some time ago not sure how busy it would get as a syndicate / members water - I'd say that if they're limiting numbers to 60 for Stock, Banjo and Abbots then it shouldn't get too crazy but I am guessing.

I fished Brackens, Central and South lagoons for 12years or so, and mixed my fishing up, mostly 48hours to longer sessions, although did do the occasional overnight only trip.
Brackens could produce decent fish on day only trips, Digit came out a couple of times to people just fishing days, but it could also switch off and you might have to sit and wait for a few days. Also you could get them up on floaters in the summer.
The Lagoons could be tough, the fish moved very quickly. I have seen fish in the Central inflow sluice, and 30minutes later the same fish was up by the caravan park in the South. However sometimes they sat in there for days feeding on daphnia. There are some big tench and bream, both go over 12lbs and will take boilies.
On both Brackens and the lagoons I have caught on first night, or over all four nights or days of 4 day/night sessions, and blanked for a couple of days until the fish showed up or dropped their guard. On Brackens if there were more than 4 or 5 anglers the fish could switch off or hide in the corners.
I do not know what it is like now, but Romanians have been a problem in the past, fires on the bank etc, although a growling Sky dog often made them disappear along with a call to the Rangers and LV office.
The whole of Meadgate Lane from Lignacite to Dobbs has been a problem with fly-tipping.

Granted but that is one lake at 15 acres...we are talking hundreds of acres here spread over 7 lakes and many miles?
Never walked around Crown Lakes but I doubt you can compare the two tbh.

That will be a rare thing for a country park, most of the time due to the layout it's just not workable.
Also many parks are v much wildlife havens, they would be reluctant to restrict the access.
Having said all that I do know of one that's fenced, but LV waters are HUGE, And on many you would be relying on the public to close gates, which would be problem.

As Cam says, Nazeing Meads alone covers around 120acres, and split across public access roads and lanes.
In theory, Brackens could be fenced, but that is only a 2 acres part of the whole venue.
The footpath and access road also runs alongside the canalised section of the River Lee, some houses have gardens backing onto the lagoons as well.

I never had my car or company van damaged, but I always made sure fishing tackle was not left in plain view in there.
A bit strange, as I also walked around the lakes or walked or drove into Hoddesdon to Sainsbury or Johnson Ross for bits and pieces and left my gear on the bank with no problems, nothing ever went missing.
Some swims you can park in your swim on the Central, others are a long walk. Long Island, Ratties, and the bower swims on the join between the 2 lakes, or Pylons on the South are the longest walks.

Always worth walking around, gives you an idea of what you are facing.

I've fished in and around the Lea valley for years, the only problem I've come across is the rubbish left by the Eastern European crew, absolutely disgusting. Seen it when bins have been literally next to their chosen picnic spots!
Apart from that I've found it to be lovely 😊

Have to say the Ee's are terrible for leaving litter and crap, all daytickets now stopped on my fenland river club, and literally hundreds banned over the last 10years or more, the Eastern lads who are club members absolutely hate them for the trouble caused.
That's not to say we don't have plenty of homebred scum, but in this case they are v much in the minority.

A stunning lake I fish the favourite thing is beer cans chucked in bushes line left on bank and a few other nasties, thay bunk on not paying fuk it all up , probably loose the fishing one day

bites tend to come very early morning.
