Just a quick question. Once I defrost and use frozen boilies is it okay to then refreeze them? If so how many times can I do this?

Thanks

Yes they will be fine, although I'd only do it once. Not really any need to do more times unless you take far too much with you

Alright cheers. It's my first time using frozen boilies and I only got a 1kg bag. I defrosted and took the whole bag with me. In the future I will probably defrost then just put what I need in a bucket.

Yeah that's the best way, although a kg isn't actually much for this time of year so you could well end up using that in a couple of hours if you are having a decent day

Agreed, ok to to refreeze once (thaw twice). Just remember if you take them with some that have been thawed once to use the thawed twice version first. I use different air drying bags to differentiate.

How long will they keep out of the freezer?

Depends how you keep them. If you buy an air dry bag and poo them in that, and hang it up somewhere then weeks

Personally I never refreeze bait. If I don't use it all i air dry it and store it that way.

Once food is out of the freezer, as it defrosts, the escaping liquid takes nutrition with it.
Also refreezing boilies, or any food, breaks down the cell walls.

Far better to either put it in the lake as prebait, or air dry it.

I would also say that re-freezing and re using once more after the initial usage is probably ok especially if you look after your bait on the bank with a thermal bait bag. Remember, good baits normally turn sour the quickest

I'm happy to re-freeze a handful of times. They're just fish, they eat their own sh*t at the end of the day.

I'm sure the bait isnt necessarily at its best, and ideally I wouldnt refereeze but I'm not made of money and it's never affected me catching.

What does the air dry process involve exactly?

Hang them in a mesh bag and leave them to dry out. Give them a shake every now and then

Have a look in your local Aldi, they sell mesh bags for fruit & veg at about 20p each. There's a post on here about them a few months back.

You could also take less baits to the lake.

When I was on a budget as a 15y old kid. I only took bait for 5 takes. If there was some bait over at the end of the session, they went back home and we're stored in a jar with salt.
