Hi all,
I'm fishing a busy club water and fish on fairly limited time. There are several pegs which are pretty much always busy which produce fish consistently. I'm wanted to try pre bait a less busy area, has anyone done this on a busy water. Don't really wanna do it and then find out someone's on my baited area so plan do have two or so spots where I can trickle some bait in before my sessions. Any tips are appreciated.

If your going to pre bait a busy club water then it's going to be a lottery on whether your going to be able to fish it on your next session. You could try baiting in between swims that way at least you've got 2 swims to access it from and not relying on the 1 swim being empty. Another thing to take into consideration is people seeing what your doing and fishing your spots especially if it's busy there and you've got people who watch the water a lot.

I've always pre baited when pos and the results speak for themselves. Bait up in the dark is what I'd do. If the lakes not massive I wouldn't be pre baiting if people are fishing. Bad etiquette but that's just my view

See what baits are being used, then do something else, say 24 mm baits as a example,
Find 2 spots that are out the way , above all have confidence

So many anglers on its hard to say exactly what is going in. Think a lot use small amounts of bait and particles. Will try look for areas that aren't fished as much. As others said don't really wanna do it when others are fishing or will be seen though.

If there's anything like the amount of bait going into my local club waters I wouldn't bother I'd just fish singles

This is pretty much the situations that I face.
Can you give us a little info about the lake, size, shape, depths in the edge, is it a gravel pit etc and the time you have available to get there / fish.

Personally i wouldn't bother, if so busy there will be plenty of bait going in of various types, boilies/particles/nuts etc
If you wanted an edge, try naturals - such as Worms on hook and within groundbait and/or crushed boilie of your choice
if you try and blatantly pre-bait whilst others are fishing you may either get thrown in or banned
Even at night these days there are lots of anglers doing midweek night and sound travels more at night

It's about 9/10 acres, two main islands and a point. Average depth is around 6 foot up to 12 or so in a few areas. I can probably do one or two nights a month really so fairly limited actual time to do nights, can get away with an evening here and there.
You really think you'd get thrown in / banned for pre baiting I can't see that happening.
I used hemp and maggots on a previous session and had a 24 lb mirror. Tried same tactics this time and nothing however was on the fish but not getting there heads down, also tried a zig but no luck

I wouldn't bother either.
Every time I have done it across multiple waters I never end up being able to fish on the spots. Plus there is that much bait going in its almost pointless. Well placed singles for me.
That said, my waters are small, 1-5 acres.

Go on a Sunday afternoon/evening...watch for whoever is leaving and fish singles over their bait when they've gone home.

One club lake I used to fish the staff at the on-site tackle shop used to do that every Sunday from 6pm to 12. They used to clean up.

In all honesty I would not waste your time and money on pre-baiting a busy club lake, to many things that are working against you. I would fish the unpopular swims though, if there is a reasonable stock then they will visit these areas more than most think....just a handful of bait, well sunk lines etc; they are visiting these areas to get away from obvious angling signs. Also take advantage of the pre-baiting inadvertently done by others...the margins. Everyone reels in, pulls the bait off, squashes it and gives it a good old sniff before lobbing it in the edge...a washed out single dropped in close with no freebies can be deadly on these types of venues, often resulting in the rarely caught, wily old'uns.

It's difficult when you have very little time but making the effort to get there and keep a bit of hemp going in should help, it doesn't have to be loads, you've already had one over it, can always put a rod out in the swim to appease the whingers!
Have a think about the lake and how it's generally fished, is there areas that could be taken advantage of, not just swims but style of fishing, bait, range, trends etc, try and exploit some as there will be I'm sure.

so long as its done modestly and with the correct etiquette. fed up fishing and have some idiot dump a load of bait in 30 yards away then clear off.
