Well I'm thinking of getting a rod pod. As I'm using bank sticks at the moment which I do like. But the lakes I'm now fishing the ground is very hard. Even in the winter months. I've had a solar sod pod years ago was okay but a bit 2 high and unsteady for me. Also had a fox one which was same. And also had one of the original gardener pods which I liked. Well I've looked at the solar sp1 I think it is and centry stuff. I was wondering what you guys use ? Wondering something that sits low ish to the ground and sturdy. And something that is not massively expensive

Could always get one of those Defiant digging sticks? I've heard good things about them. I bought the Cygnet compact pod and honestly find it too much of a faff each time i have to setup.

Have a look at the jag micro pod quick & easy to set up sits low and pegs points on each leg to made it rock solid

doesn't come under the "not massively expensive" comment though mate....I agree it's quality but by the time he's added his buzz bars the price is right up there...ticks all the boxes that he requires though

Still use my original solar sod pod,I just lowered it easily by getting the four and two inch uprights,it looks very smart and stable..

I would say if I was to get a stainless steel one I'd pay up to about £250 to £300 for one. Even a very good second hand one but would have to be mint

Same spec as my original sod pod but i managed to find some 6” legs as well which were a nightmare to find. I tried the new version but prefer the original its so compact in that tube and takes seconds to put together. Its one thing i dont think i would ever sell even though i never use it. It still looks brand new.

I modded 2 of mine so I only needed to add the centre bar, the 2 ends were kept fully assembled in my landing mat.

Is it mot easier to just keep it in one piece in its tube? It only takes about 20 seconds to put together.

Keeping the ends fully assembled means with buzz bars/alarms etc already fitted (pic was illustration of mod)
So no, def not easier from tube.

Ok you win by saving 20 seconds 😀 i personally would rather keep it all together in its tube as its more compact that way.

over the years I have easily spent well over a grand on pods
to name a few Defiant ,Solar and Amiaud Peche and of course JRC .Fox Etc etc
I got a couple of River pods now for Barbel fishing and a Fox Quattro pod for Carp fishing
but if I was going to buy a pod now and had nothing I would buy a Sonik Vader X Rod Pod and spend my money on more important things
