Trying to settle a disagreement, are they made from real carbon? I was always under the impression they were carbon affect.

Composite carbon effect.
The base material is covered in a carbon locking effect material with a plastic surface. Once the plastic surface is penetrated ( scratched, scuffed etc) water gets in and it goes white and manky. It sometimes happens without being scratched.
The other problem is the centre bar not being metal tends to bend under the weight of the rods. This sets up a bounce effect and can be a real pain when having a run as the whole pod reacts and if you have sensitive to alarms ( Delk?) then all 3 goo off at the same time.
Looks = Brilliant
Toughness = Crap
Functionality = Crap
Longevity= Crap

Madness. I did mention there not real carbon but two other people said they are carbon but cant really be bothered to get into an argument over a pod such just left it at that.

They used to be sold with the description ‘Carbon Effect'. That phrase seems to have gone missing over the years.
I don't know if the actual base material is plain black unpolished carbon or graphite, maybe even some form of plastic, but the outer carbon weave that you see is fake.

I had a Carbon Effect set up. Pretty sure it was just plain old plastic underneath. It was produced at the time when Solar quality went to sh*t (imo it never really recovered). I had it in a cupboard for years until I found it not long ago and sold it on the bay for silly money. Result.

I was slightly out its £875. It does come with 6 inch legs and indicators mind so a bargain. Apparently they made a carbon affect version and a proper carbon version but not sure how true that is.

I emailed Solar and they have said they only done a carbon effect worldwide and not a proper carbon fibre one
