Hello, I am fishing my new club water for the first time on Saturday and am at loss how I should tackle it..
The regulars tell me to fish singles and a small amount of feed but I feel more confident with solid bags 0ver spod. Do I go with my gut or follow the buzzards? cheers in advance.

Try what you want and see if it works. Quite often on a water doing something differently to the the others will catch you fish.

You often find these trends on waters, the majority using the same tactics. I went against the going tactic of double corn over a pinch of hemp and had a great session over a lot of boilies. Trouble is a month later the fishing was dead and everyone was filling it in

Assuming you don't go mental with the spod aren't these both just a means to the same end (a hookbait over a little bait)?
I'd not follow the buzzards or a bunch of randoms off here. Just do what you feel confident in mate.

i'd consider a couple of things...
1 - the regulars will know the water so it could be good advice. why not try it?
2 - you don't want to become known as 'that new bloke who is a pain chucking that bloody spod in time after time...'
and then
3 - ignore both options. get a tin of spam and bag up

I'd go with the solid bags, unless you get pestered by bream. I'd find out how the fish in that lake respond to spodding before trying it. It can make or break your session depending on the lake.

I'd be ignoring everybody (I always do) and spending a couple of weeks using any spare time I had sat up a tree or any other high vantage point observing the water, and sussing things out for myself.
It helps to draw an accurate map and plot all observation on to it, from that you will soon suss out what methods should work.

Stick with what makes you confident, mate. On almost every lake you'll hear absolute gonads about what does and doesn't work.
You can always experiment by doing your usual thing with 2 rods, and then, lob out a single, or a bag on your 3rd rod

i'd start with 1 on their method and 2 on mine and take it from there

Go, learn, try new things and figure it out yourself.
You don't want to be one of these new age carp lemmings do you"
Not going to name him as he's sadly passed. Quote was very late 90's, but I think relevant even today.

I once fished a water the locals said you won't catch in here on a method feeder mate...you won't catch on yellow I here mate.

The other anglers may say a certain tactic is catching well, when actually everyone is using it so it will catch all the fish. So going against the grain may pay off. However, don't turn it down as an option as sometimes a certain tactic or bait may have a phase where the fish are being caught on it well, so try both and compare the results.

Use bags on their own and see if your doing the right thing.... maybe some freebies with a stick to.. 'fit in'...
Observing what is going on and the lake is everything... you'll get the hang of how it goes pretty quick. Tight lines.

I do my own thing, people soon want to tell you how they fish, I like to ignore them. I play the statistics anyway I just like being there.

Once you've found the fish . . .One rod on the going advice . . .one rod on your own confidence method . . .one rod doing something completely different . . .first rod that catches would be a good starting point to then develop your own route to success . .

When watching a recorded event at a later time which your enjoying play out unawares of the outcome and inevitably to keep the suspense the fingers in the ears spoiler technique is deployed, well pretty much the same applies when I'm on the bank because I hate hearing all the information spewed about so I purposefully avoid it wanting to find out myself and don't get why certain anglers almost whore themselves for it, surely the journey makes the results even sweeter. I pay no attention to other anglers whilst on the bank choosing my own approach unhindered by the limitations dictated in various tones of baah baah 🐏

Do your own thing and remember, if you catch on a different method, tell them you've caught on the same tactics everybody else is using!
