Hi all,
What reel is peoples choice when it comes to shorter rods, i have new 10ft nash dwarf rods coming is there any need to change from my shimano ci4 14000 I suppose I will get an idea when my rods turn up, but wondering if anyone has had to get a smaller reel to complement their smaller rods.

I got some 10ft 3.25tc free spirit s lites now, I use some shimano ci4 5500 on them they feel great. I do have them in 14000 aswell but I use them on my 12fts, tbh try them out on your 10fts you might like them Personal preference bud

As Rich says, try your reels on them. If they aren't suitable, loads of people on here rate the Okuma Inc 6000's, ideal for smaller rods. I too have just bought 3 x 10' rods, and have ordered 3 x Okumas also. Waiting for both to be delivered.

You dont need to change your reels because you have bought shorter rods. A smaller reel might ballance a bit better or will compliment the shorter rods better but they wont make any difference in a fishing situation. Try the reels you already have first.
I have some short greys and shimano rods,I pair them with ss1600.

When I purchased my FreeSpirit 11' TS's I went with Diawa Emblem BR25A's .
They suit the rods perfectly and have given me a well balanced set up.

I already had a pair of Baitrunner OC 8000's when I got my 9ft Xtractors and they are a perfect match.

I enjoy using my old Shimano Aere 8010 Baitrunner reels with both my stalking rods and my 12 ft 2.75 Freespirit rods. Makes both a nice light weight set up and the ease of using a bait runner, if I had smaller reels like the 6010's I would use them.

Okuma INC 6000. I've used ss2600 on 9ft reels before and find them too small personally, the Okumas are a touch bigger with better line lay and a nicer feel. Plus they are relatively cheap, I believe Bobco have stopped doing them for 40 quid now

Yeah, hardly anywhere has them in stock. I paid £50 each for mine. Most places I spoke to weren't having them in until March. Think Daveys Fishing Tackle on ebay has some, but they're £59 each.

I have the fox fx9 reels for my scopes, can't fault them for the money. As said previously you don't really need smaller reels, it's just about how happy you are with the balance.

I've about 4 regulars that I SOMETIMES avoid in my quest to be inch perfect.
Perhaps a bait boat would be cheaper.
